Results show that people with HIV who suffer from other chronic diseases, have a detectable viral load in their blood, were born outside Spain and/or are over 65 years old, could have a higher risk of suffering from severe COVID-19.
The results of this study have been published in the scientific journal Archives of Bronconeumology and it has been lead by members of the Early Cancer Detection group of the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL) and the Catalan nstitute of Oncology (ICO).
Last Friday, October 22, the sixth edition of IDIBELL’s PhD Day took place in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Barcelona. In this edition, it has been presented 10 oral communications and 44 scientific posters.
One of the hallmarks of Parkinson’s disease is the abnormal accumulation of the α-synuclein protein that causes neuronal death responsible for motor impairments. Dendrimers are highly branched polymers that decrease α-synuclein accumulation in dopaminergic neurons derived from patient stem cells.
