The award recognizes the research of Dr. Povedano, who underlined that she was receiving the award “on behalf of a whole team of professionals from different disciplines that changed the approach to motor neuron diseases in our center and our territory“. She also thanked the work and daily support of patient associations, such as the Catalan Foundation of ELA Miquel Valls and the Luzón Foundation, and all the support from her mentors, both neurologists and neurophysiologists.
The delivery of the different annual awards of the Society and the accreditations to the new Honorary Members took place during the Institutional Act of the entity, held in the Auditorium of the Complutense University of Madrid on September 23. Dr. Jordi Montero, head of the Bellvitge Hospital Neurology Service and one of the mentors mentioned by Dr. Povedano, was one of the professionals recognized as an honorary member of the SEN at the event.
The Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL) is a biomedical research center created in 2004. It is participated by the Bellvitge University Hospital and the Viladecans Hospital of the Catalan Institute of Health, the Catalan Institute of Oncology, the University of Barcelona and the City Council of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat.
IDIBELL is a member of the Campus of International Excellence of the University of Barcelona HUBc and is part of the CERCA institution of the Generalitat de Catalunya. In 2009 it became one of the first five Spanish research centers accredited as a health research institute by the Carlos III Health Institute. In addition, it is part of the “HR Excellence in Research” program of the European Union and is a member of EATRIS and REGIC. Since 2018, IDIBELL has been an Accredited Center of the AECC Scientific Foundation (FCAECC).
