The analysis of brain involvement at an individual level has shown that there is a great heterogeneity in the affected regions in individuals with the same clinical diagnosis. In contrast, alterations in neural circuits and networks involving different regions are common among various mental disorders and could therefore become useful as diagnostic markers.
