The European project “Oncommun-ICOnnecta’t” has just received the “Invest Me Saúde 2020” award in the hospital innovation category. This award is presented by ‘Jansen, Jornal de Negocios and Associação Portuguesa de Administradoras hospital‘ and aims to distinguish the best scientific and non-scientific works and has the purpose of recognizing and rewarding good practices in the field of health.
This is the second award in a month that receives this project. A project developed by the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) and IDIBELL in collaboration with the Pedro Nuñez Institute, and which has been implemented at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology of Coimbra. In October, it was awarded the “HINNT Award” in his category of patient safety in Portugal.
This international award aims to recognize and disseminate best practices for the adoption of information technology (ICT) and communication to approach a “paperless” environment that leads to gains in patient safety, support for the clinical decision, and overall efficiency.
The Portuguese Oncommunities Project (ICOnnecta’t in Catalonia) currently has 84 patients but is expected to increase to a hundred by the end of the year. The team that manages the project is made up of six persons from the field of medicine, nursing, and psychology. The idea is to obtain funding to continue and be able to extend this experience to other oncological pathologies.
