Presentation of the new cell sorter of the flow cytometry platform

NO032 - Presentació citometre - Imatge noti

The Flow Cytometry Platform of the IDIBELL Scientific-Technical Services incorporated new high-performance equipment. It is the Beckman Coulter CytoFLEX SRT Benchtop Cell Separator. The arrival of this state-of-the-art equipment covers the need to renew the cell separation service and makes new and current technological improvements available to researchers.

CytoFLEX SRT can meet the requirements for a wide range of cell separation needs. In addition, the platform includes innovative technologies that make it simpler to set up and operate, helping researchers focus on the research questions. The equipment presents an optical configuration that includes 4 lasers and up to 15 fluorescence detectors that will allow the identification of up to the same number of cell markers.

To present the innovations of the new cytometer, a training talk was held by BeckmanCoulter. At the session, with hybrid follow-up, face-to-face and online, the main technological features were presented. Also, It was presented the Cytobank Software, an online platform to carry out multidimensional data analysis that uses machine-learning tools.

The cytometry platform team, organizers of the event, wanted to thank the work done by all the the institution memebers that have made possible the incorporation of this new equipment.

The Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL) is a biomedical research center created in 2004. It is participated by the Bellvitge University Hospital and the Viladecans Hospital of the Catalan Institute of Health, the Catalan Institute of Oncology, the University of Barcelona and the City Council of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat.

IDIBELL is a member of the Campus of International Excellence of the University of Barcelona HUBc and is part of the CERCA institution of the Generalitat de Catalunya. In 2009 it became one of the first five Spanish research centers accredited as a health research institute by the Carlos III Health Institute. In addition, it is part of the “HR Excellence in Research” program of the European Union and is a member of EATRIS and REGIC. Since 2018, IDIBELL has been an Accredited Center of the AECC Scientific Foundation (FCAECC).
