The awards ceremony will be hold at a gala scheduled for June 11th in the auditorium of Caja Rural de Granada Central Offices (Avenida Don Bosco 2, Granada), which will be attended by the Health Minister of the Autonomous Government of Andalucía, María Jesús Montero, among other representatives of institutions and administrations.
Fundación Caja Rural de Granada created this award in collaboration with the Technological Park of Health Sciences in Granada in 2005 to highlight the special relationship of the Andalusian city with research on health and to publish the most important project developed by the Junta de Andalucia in Granada.
In addition to the organizing institutions, in this award collaborate and form part of the jury the College of Physicians of Granada, the College of Pharmacists of Granada, the Provincial Health Delegation of the Andalusian Autonomous Government, the University of Granada and the Spanish Ministry of Health and Social Policy.
The jury emphasized the high level of all the works, from research centers and universities throughout Spain.
The winning project uncovers a connection between overgrowth and cancer that opens many doors for new treatments against various diseases caused by mutations in genes regulating the size of tissues and cell proliferation.
