Saturday 4 February is World Cancer Day. This disease is a leading cause of death worldwide. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that, without any intervention, 84 million people will die of cancer between 2005 and 2015.
The RNE program “En días como hoy”, directed and presented by journalist Juan Ramón Lucas, held a colloquium on the current state of cancer research. The participants were Clinical chief of the Valencian Institute of Oncology, Eduardo Ferrandis, the director of the National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO), María Blasco, and the Program Director of Cancer Epigenetics and Biology at IDIBELL, Manel Esteller.
