The president of the Parliament of Catalonia, Carme Forcadell, and the Health conseller, Antoni Comín, visited the University Hospital of Bellvitge. They were joined by Núria Marín, mayoress of L’Hospitalet; Candela Calle, managing director of the Catalan Institute of Health (ICO); Antoni Andreu, CEO of Innovation and Research of the Department of Health; Joan Puigdollers, manager of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona Health Region; Jordi Trelis, ICS hospitals healthcare director, and Eva Peruga, director of Communication and Institutional Relations of ICS, among others.
On behalf of bellvitge’s staff, they have been received by Montserrat Figuerola, territorial manager of ICS of the South Metropolitan Area and Cristina Capdevila, director of the University Hospital of Bellvitge, Jaume Reventós, IDIBELL’s director, and other members of the hospital management board.
Comín arrived to Bellvitge at 09:30 h and started the visit with a meeting with the management team of the hospital, in which Dr. Reventós offered a brief presentation of IDIBELL.
After that, he met with members of the Medical Board, the Nurses Board and the Personnel Board.
Talking to the staff, the conseller made clear that “you are the key to success” and that “the success of Bellvitge depends on what is being done here every day.” Comín also made reference to autonomous management and professional empowerment as fundamental aspects of the health system in Catalonia.
Looking ahead, Comín admitted that ” the budgetary framework is more complicated than we would like it to be”, but expressed the commitment of the Department to develop a functional hospital plan and compelte Phase II of Bellvitge’s New Project.
To finish his speech, Antoni Comin noted that the University Hospital of Bellvitge is one of the 4 or 5 centers in the country “on which the collective consciousness of citizens on the health system depends” and thanked the professionals’ efforts in recent years: “they have saved the quality of the system,” he said.
