IDIBELL, worthy cause of the 7th Cursa Nocturna Sport form L’Hospitalet

The strategy of patronage that IDIBELL began implementing in late 2015 includes close cooperation with the city of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. In this context we find the Cursa Nocturna Sport of L’Hospitalet, which this year is celebrated on April 16, inside the program of the Spring Festival, and brings together, every year, more than 6,000 runners. From this edition, solidarity donations from runners will go to projects led by biomedical researchers from IDIBELL. This achievement representsespecially a first step to achieve greater visibility of our Institute and its consolidation in the territory.

In order to choose the project that this year will represent the IDIBELL in the Cursa, the Institute launched a call to all researchers. The project that was chosen is entitled Predicop, and is led by Dr. Antonio Agudo (ICO-IDIBELL). PREDICOP is an assay that is performed by several centers and includes 2,108 catalan women, between 18 and 75, who have already gone through a standard treatment for breast cancer. The participants, who will receive a treatment based on exercise and nutritional monitoring will be monitored for four years, with the intention to demonstrate that these changes in lifestyle are crucial for improving the prognosis of cancer, their quality of life and, ultimately, their survival.

All runners who sign up for the event can make voluntarily a contribution of 1 euro to the worthy cause. Visit the website of the Cursa Nocturna and the page about the project of IDIBELL: http://cursanocturnalh.cat/causa-solidaria/
