Acquatic Animal Models
The zebrafish (Danio Rerio) is a small tropical freshwater fish that originates in the southeastern Himalayan region. Its high degree of genetic homology with humans, the ease of genetically manipulating their transparent embryos, and its regenerative capacity are only some of the characteristics that make this vertebrate a valuable model organism for performing studies and research into genetics and human diseases.
In the Aquatic Animals Unit, which operates within the framework of the IDIBELL animal facilities, these unique characteristics are used to help researchers to optimise their research by providing technical support and services related to zebrafish.
