ERDF funds enable the incorporation of CMRB to IDIBELL’s facilities

The Direcció General de Recerca de la Secretaria d’Universitats i Recerca (Departament d’Empresa i Coneixement) has granted a project to Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL) for the optimization, adaptation, improvement of facilities and acquisition of technological equipment at  IDIBELL because of  the forthcoming integration of the Center for Regenerative Medicine in Barcelona (CMRB) in these spaces. The project, which is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), has a total cost of € 3.410.983,08 of which 1.705.491,54 € (50%) are subsidized.

The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) is a financial instrument of the European Commission. These funds are non-repayable grants and are managed directly by public authorities; as for the project awarded to IDIBELL, management is carried out by the Department of Enterprise and Knowledge of the Generalitat of Catalonia and is part of the grants for singular institutional construction acquisition, licensing and / or building extension for R & D infrastructure projects, that will enable the generation of research excellence, attracting talent and developing knowledge transfer and valorization activities.

The purpose of ERDF is to strengthen economic and social cohesion in the European Union in order to correct imbalances between its regions. Among other actions, the ERDF funds infrastructure linked to research and innovation, telecommunications, environment, energy and transport.
