Montse Ballarín ”Innovation should be integrated in the culture of research institutions”

On November 24 the conference hall of the University Hospital of Bellvitge (HUB) hosted the presentation of the book ¿Innovas o trabajas? De la idea al paciente written by members of the IDIBELL Unity of Innovation Montse Ballarin, Jaime Ruiz, Eva Olivera and Jose Maria Sanchez, supported by ACC10.

Those in charge of opening the event was the Manager of ICS, metropolitan area South and the University Hospital of Bellvitge, Antoni Andreu, the Director of the Unit for Innovation at ACC10 Mariona Sanz, medical director of the Catalan Institute of Oncology, Jordi Trelis and the director of IDIBELL, James Reventós.

Innovation in health was protagonist of the presentation with a talk of the head of gynecology service at HUB and IDIBELL researcher, Jordi Ponce about Integration of robotics in the operating room “From Myth of Apollo in the Robotics Innovation”.

The book pretends to be a useful tool for Healthcare staff and researchers who have an innovative idea to have but do not know what steps to follow to carry it out and to reach the market. The authors of the book explained that it is a compilation of the experiences from the Unit Innovation with several healthcare professionals

and researchers at the Bellvitge Campus in technology transfer.

According to the responsible of the Innovation Unit at IDIBELL, Montse Ballarin and co-author of the book “The Innovation should form part of the culture of research institutes and here in Bellvitge, the motivation is to innovate and try to do things differently to improve”. Moreover, one of the writers of the book, Jaime Ruiz said that “for innovate we only need neurons and effort.
