Xavier Bosch, senior consultant of the Research Program in Cancer Epidemiology (PREC) ICO and IDIBELL’s researcher, received on 23 September by Queen Letizia the “V” de vida Award; an award that the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) gives as a recognition to individuals and / or entities that have outstanding collaboration in the fight against cancer. The award was celebrated in Burgos, during the official ceremony in which also were given 6.3 million euros in various research projects in oncology.
During the ceremony the Queen described the awarded as “a great scientist who is credited by his brilliant career in applied research on prevention,”. On the other hand, AECC has wanted to reward Bosch for his contribution in advancing and knowledge of cancer control, as well as improving the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease.
An awarded career
Xavier Bosch has previously received other awards in recognition of his career: Jaume I Prize on basic research, the Catalan Foundation Award for Research and Innovation (FCRI) and the Lilly Foundation Award. These awards have been given for their contributions at the international level in the field of public health and primary prevention of cancer, in particular for its epidemiological research on cancers associated with infectious agents.
