Manel Esteller and Xavier Gómez-Batiste received Josep Trueta health merit medal

The director of the Epigenetics and Cancer Biology of IDIBELL, Manel Esteller and the responsible of Qualy Observatory of the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) and head of the research group on palliative care at IDIBELL, Xavier Gómez Batiste received the medal Josep Trueta to the sanitary merit of this year.

The ceremony took place on May 12th at the Palau de la Generalitat, headed by Artur Mas, president of the Generalitat, and Boi Ruiz, head of Health Department.

Josep Trueta medals and plaques, given annually by the Generalitat of Catalonia, distinguished persons and entities that, on its merits, have highlighted significantly for services rendered in order to progress and improving health. The Josep Trueta medals and plaques were created in 1997, coinciding with the centenary of the birth of renowned Catalan doctor and scientist.

2015 winners

Apart from Manel Esteller and Xavier Gómez Batiste, the other recipients of the 2015 Medal Josep Trueta are the specialist in the field of nephrology Jaume Aubia; specialist in obstetrics and gynecology Pedro N. Barri Ragué; the degree in pharmacy Maria Rosa Cedó Rigalt; specialist in psychiatry Jose Fabregas and Poveda (posthumously); the head of Catalonia Expert Patient Programme, Maestro González Assumption; Technical Evaluation Division of Welfare Services of the Catalan Health Service Amando Martin Zurro; psychiatrist and psychotherapist Roser Pérez Simón (posthumously); Dr. Marisol Rodríguez Martínez economics; specialist in pediatrics and Chief of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Area Maternal Hospital Vall d’Hebron, Jose Sanchez Toledo and Codina; specialist in preventive medicine and public health Andreu Segura Benedicto, and the specialist in internal medicine and specialist in preventive medicine and public health Antoni Trilla Garcia. Josep Trueta Plate has been granted this year the Hospital del Mar; Catalonia Federation of Mental Health and Hospital Foundation Sant Pau and Santa Tecla.
