Manel Esteller is one of the three most cited biomedical researchers in Spain

Researchers Josep Maria Llovet, Hospital Clinic of Barcelona; Josep Baselga, Hospital Vall d’Hebron; and Manel Esteller of the IDIBELL are the three Spanish biomedical researchers working at Spanish institutions most cited worldwide.

This is the podium of the ranking that have made the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation, the Quality Agency and Health Assessment, Barcelona, and the University Pompeu Fabra, based on data from Thomson Reuters between 1997 and 2011.

Furthermore the study, led by Jordi Cami, University Pompeu Fabra, stresses that scientific articles Spanish researchers who are between 1% most cited publications worldwide, have increased considerably in the last 14 years . They have gone from 61 in 1997 to 357 in 2011.
