On Wednesday April 2, the auditorium of the University Hospital of Bellvitge hosted the presentation of the new IDIBELL general manager, Jaume Reventós. The event was attended by members of the delegate Commission of the institution Jordi Alberch , Vice Chancellor of the University of Barcelona ; Alfredo Garcia Director of the University Hospital of Bellvitge ; Lluís Rovira , director of the Institution NEAR ; Gabriel Capellà , responsible for Research and Innovation in Health Department of Health and representing Carlos Constant
of the Department of Health and Josep Martorell , General Manager of Research and Candela Calle, general manager of the Catalan Institute of Oncology and Associate Director of the Committee.
Candela Calle thanked all researchers and workers of the institution the effort and the patience during these last few months and has reaffirmed its commitment to continue investing in the IDIBELL. Calle has been responsible for introducing new IDIBELL director Jaume Reventós. She has defined him as “a person of consensus that sums, listens and committed to the project at hand.”
For his part, Jaume Reventós explained his career in the world of research and scientific management and has said that his ultimate goal during this time was “apply research findings in health centers to
improve the health of persons” this vision of the research is the one which will guide him now that he takes charge IDIBELL.
The new director is convinced that “Together we can move forward with the IDIBELL” and explained that the first thing he will do is “talk with researchers to work together and with complete transparency.”
Jaume Reventós has affirmed its commitment to work for a common research project : “I believe in synergies. IDIBELL is a cornerstone of the Catalan research system. We have to get a research plan for everyone. It is not about big words like being the best center in Catalonia but maintaining IDIBELL as an important and necessary center for the Catalan research”. On behalf of the Departments of Health and Knowledge Economy has spoken the responsible for Research and Innovation in Health, Gabriel Capellà that thanked the work done by the managing director IDIBELL, Antonio Martin and acting scientific director, José Maria Menchón .

Gabriel Capellà also expressed the commitment of the Government by the institution “The IDIBELL has undergone a period of lack of leadership and economic uncertainty,” but “is an institute with future and the Government will maintain its financial support. The Generalitat has detected these shortcomings and, together with partner institutions has worked on its revival. Thus, Capellà said that Jaume Reventós meets all the requirements for carrying out this refounding . “We have confidence in him because he has a lot of experience in research, economic management and in the world of technology transfer.
Jaume Reventós will incorporate as new IDIBELL director in the coming weeks.
