On the 25th and 26th September 2013 IDIBELL hosted the first workshop of the European project IT-Liver, included in the Marie Curie ITN (Initial Training Network) Programme. The next training sessions will be held on 27th and 28th February at the University of Vienna.
The IT-LIVER project’s mission is to provide a multidisciplinary research training program for young researchers to prepare them to lead research in chronic liver disease and drug discovery in Europe.
One of the most important actions to achieve this is the organisation of various scientific events providing specific training for junior researchers. The first workshop organised by IDIBELL took place at the Institute of Catalan Studies in Barcelona. The workshop titled ” Omics meet translational research”
focused on new technologies to better understand the molecular mechanisms of human diseases and the design of new therapeutic tools.
The next meeting of the IT-Liver project partners will take place at the University of Vienna on February 27th and 28th 2014. This time the workshop entitled “3-dimensional cell cultures and drug discovery” will focus on three-dimensional cell models and the latest advances in the use of these technologies in therapeutic targets validation and new drug discovery.
Isabel Fabregat, the head of the research group Biological Clues of the Invasive and Metastatic Phenotype, is the coordinator of the project involving eight academic research institutions and four participants from industry from six European countries.
