Manel Esteller bestowed with the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR) Award Lecture

The Director of the Cancer Epigenetics and Biology program of IDIBELL, Manel Esteller has been awarded the 2011 European Association for Cancer Research (EACR) Cancer Researcher Award Lecture.

This award recognizes the outstanding trajectory of a cancer researcher from a European country. Manel Esteller has been bestowed with the Award Lecture at the 2011 European Multidisciplinary Cancer Congress in Stockholm on September 22-27.

The European Association for Cancer Research (EACR) was established in 1968 with the aim of advancing cancer research; from basic research to prevention, treatment and care. The Association is growing rapidly with a membership of over 9,000 laboratory, translational and clinical cancer researchers.

Dr Esteller has authored more than two-hundred seventy original articles and has placed epigenetics in the forefront of cancer biology. He is the Director of the Cancer Epigenetics and Biology Program (PEBC) of the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL), an ICREA Research Professor and Genetics Professor in the School of Medicine of the University of Barcelona.
