Un estudi publicat a la revista Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) mostra un mecanisme que explica les propietats comunes que comparteixen c\u00e8l\u00b7lules mare i c\u00e8l\u00b7lules canceroses. En el treball hi ha participat el Grup de Recerca d’Epigen\u00e8tica del C\u00e0ncer, dirigit per Manel Esteller, investigador ICREA de l\u2019IDIBELL i del Departament de Ci\u00e8ncies Fisiol\u00f2giques II de la Facultat de Medicina de la Universitat de Barcelona (UB).<\/span> <\/p>\n “Concretament hem trobat que una prote\u00efna implicada en l\u2019augment de la longevitat, anomenada sirtu\u00efna 1 (SIRT1), \u00e9s molt activa en les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules mare, que per definici\u00f3 s\u00f3n sempre joves”, explica Esteller. Quan les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules mare comencen a diferenciar-se per generar els diferents teixits, l\u2019activitat de la sirtu\u00efna 1 es perd. Segons apunta l\u2019investigador, “aquest proc\u00e9s \u00e9s molt similar al que passa en el c\u00e0ncer: els tumors humans tenen molt activada la sirtu\u00efna 1 perqu\u00e8 s\u00f3n c\u00e8l\u00b7lules immortals i poc diferenciades”.<\/p>\n Els resultats indiquen que la SIRT1 est\u00e0 regulada durant la diferenciaci\u00f3 de les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules mare per alguna via epigen\u00e8tica, encara desconeguda, que controla el desenvolupament espec\u00edfic en les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules mare embri\u00f2niques. Un dels interessos addicionals de l\u2019estudi \u00e9s que ja existeixen subst\u00e0ncies que, com a m\u00ednim al laboratori, poden modificar el proc\u00e9s: estimular la diferenciaci\u00f3 de c\u00e8l\u00b7lules mare i tenir efectes antitumorals, en provocar l\u2019envelliment sobtat de les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules canceroses.<\/p>\n En l\u2019estudi tamb\u00e9 hi han participat investigadors de l\u2019Hospital Universitari Central d\u2019Ast\u00faries, del Centre Andal\u00fas de Biologia Molecular i Medicina Regenerativa, i del Centre d’Investigaci\u00f3 Biom\u00e8dica en Xarxa de Malalties Hep\u00e0tiques i Digestives.<\/p>\n Refer\u00e8ncia de l’article<\/strong><\/p>\n Calvanese, V.; Lara, E.; Su\u00e1rez-\u00c1lvarez, B.; Dawud, R.
