El grup de recerca de l\u2019investigador Joan X. Comella centra la seva recerca a caracteritzar i con\u00e8ixer els mecanismes moleculars de determinades prote\u00efnes que bloquegen la mort cel\u00b7lular en el sistema nervi\u00f3s. Una mort cel\u00b7lular freq\u00fcentment relacionada amb processos inflamatoris. \u201cAquestes prote\u00efnes protegeixen les neurones de la mort cel\u00b7lular\u201d ha explicat Comella en una confer\u00e8ncia emmarcada en el cicle de seminaris de l\u2019IDIBELL el passat 17 de juny.<\/strong>
<\/strong> \u201cVolem caracteritzar aquestes prote\u00efnes, saber quins s\u00f3n els mecanismes que regulen els seus nivells en el sistema nervi\u00f3s\u201d ha explicat Comella perqu\u00e8, tot i que en les malalties neurodegeneratives influeixen molts altres factors, l\u2019estat de la neurona abans de rebre l\u2019agressi\u00f3 neuroinflamat\u00f2ria tamb\u00e9 pot ser important: \u201cQuan m\u00e9s \u2018musculades\u2019 estan les nostres neurones, \u00e9s a dir quan tenen nivells elevats d\u2019aquestes prote\u00efnes, estan m\u00e9s protegides en un entorn hostil, com s\u00f3n les situacions de neuroinflamaci\u00f3\u201d. <\/p>\n

En aquest sentit, el grup de senyalitzaci\u00f3 cel\u00b7lular i apoptosi que Joan X. Comella lidera al Institut de Recerca de la Vall d\u2019Hebron (VHIR) est\u00e0 treballant, amb la col\u00b7laboraci\u00f3 de la Universitat de Barcelona, per obtenir un model de ratolins transg\u00e8nics que sobreexpressin aquestes prote\u00efnes protectores per veure de quina manera aquest augment de la protecci\u00f3 actua sobre malalties neuronals com l\u2019Alzheimer o la isqu\u00e8mia. \u201cEn malalties com l\u2019Alzheimer hem vist que la<\/p>\n

davallada en l\u2019expressi\u00f3 d\u2019aquestes prote\u00efnes es produeix just abans que les neurones comencin a morir. Aix\u00f2 suggereix, tot i que no est\u00e0 demostrat, que la caiguda dels nivells de prote\u00efna fa que les neurones no puguin resistir l\u2019agressi\u00f3 i morin\u201d per aix\u00f2 diu Comella, \u201cla volem sobreexpressar de forma artificial i veure si aix\u00ed les neurones sobreviuen\u201d.
