Un estudi publicat a la revista Nature<\/a><\/em> ha associat una regi\u00f3 del cromosoma 16 a la tend\u00e8ncia a patir obesitat o pes baix<\/strong>. L\u2019estudi ha comptat amb la participaci\u00f3 d\u2019investigadors del grup de recerca de Psiquiatria i Salut Mental <\/strong>de l\u2019IDIBELL i del Centre de Recerca Biom\u00e8dica en Xarxa de Fisiopatologia de l\u2019Obesitat i Nutrici\u00f3 (CIBERobn)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Els autors de l\u2019estudi ja havien publicat en un treball anterior que la supressi\u00f3 de la regi\u00f3 16p11.2, del cromosoma 16, incrementa en 43 vegades la probabilitat de patir obesitat m\u00f2rbida<\/strong>. Ara, els investigadors han comprovat que la duplicaci\u00f3 d\u2019aquesta regi\u00f3 provoca l\u2019efecte contrari: els portadors d\u2019aquesta alteraci\u00f3 gen\u00e8tica tenen m\u00e9s de vuit vegades m\u00e9s probabilitat de patir pes baix<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Els nadons que neixen amb aquesta alteraci\u00f3 gen\u00e8tica<\/strong> tenen un pes significativament m\u00e9s baix del normal, problemes de creixement, una mida del cap m\u00e9s redu\u00efda i una major probabilitat de patir trastorns neurocognitius i psicol\u00f2gics. Altres estudis ja havien vinculat alteracions en la mateixa posici\u00f3 del cromosoma 16 a diversos desordres cognitius, com l\u2019autisme (supressi\u00f3 de la regi\u00f3) i l\u2019esquizofr\u00e8nia (duplicaci\u00f3).<\/p>\n

La investigaci\u00f3 ha incl\u00f2s m\u00e9s de 95.000 persones<\/strong> i ha comptat amb la col\u00b7laboraci\u00f3 de m\u00e9s de cent centres de recerca d\u2019arreu del m\u00f3n, d\u2019entre els quals cinc espanyols. Dels individus estudiats, els investigadors en van identificar 132 amb la duplicaci\u00f3 de la regi\u00f3 16p11.2, molts dels quals amb un \u00edndex de massa corporal baix<\/strong> (inferior a 18,5 kg\/m2<\/sup>) i amb trastorns de la conducta aliment\u00e0ria<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Situacions extremes de pes relacionades<\/strong><\/p>\n

Les conclusions de l\u2019estudi s\u00f3n importants perqu\u00e8 relacionen situacions extremes de pes<\/strong> (anor\u00e8xia nerviosa i obesitat m\u00f2rbida), que tradicionalment s\u2019han tractat com a trastorns diferents. L\u2019investigador de l\u2019IDIBELL i del CIBERobn, i coordinador de la Unitat de Trastorns de l\u2019Alimentaci\u00f3 de l\u2019Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge, Fernando Fern\u00e1ndez-Aranda<\/strong>, que ha participat en l\u2019estudi, explica que el treball \u201cpodr\u00e0 contribuir a detectar dianes terap\u00e8utiques i factors implicats en situacions extremes de pes\u201d.<\/p>\n

Des del punt de vista cl\u00ednic, l\u2019obesitat i els trastorns de la conducta aliment\u00e0ria estan relacionats. Com explica el doctor Fern\u00e1ndez Aranda, \u201cels dos trastorns tenen en com\u00fa problemes amb la dieta, impulsivitat, baixa autoestima i p\u00e8rdua de control\u201d<\/em>. D\u2019altra banda, \u201cl\u2019obesitat est\u00e0 present en el 24% dels pacients amb bul\u00edmia nerviosa i en el 90% dels qui pateixen afartament compulsiu\u201d<\/em>. En molts casos, explica l\u2019investigador, \u201cl\u2019obesitat \u00e9s conseq\u00fc\u00e8ncia o origen del trastorn alimentari\u201d<\/em>. Fern\u00e1ndez-Aranda tamb\u00e9 destaca que fins a la meitat de les persones que pateixen un trastorn alimentari tenen antecedents d\u2019obesitat a la fam\u00edlia.<\/p>\n

L\u2019estudi publicat a Nature<\/em> \u00e9s la refer\u00e8ncia inicial per a diverses investigacions que du a terme l\u2019equip de Fernando Fern\u00e1ndez Aranda, en el marc del programa 5 del CIBERobn (Neurocognici\u00f3 i Factors Ambientals-Biol\u00f2gics en situacions extremes de pes), per detectar marcadors biol\u00f2gics espec\u00edfics vinculats amb els trastorns de l\u2019alimentaci\u00f3, aix\u00ed com la seva interacci\u00f3 amb factors neurocognitius i psicol\u00f2gics.<\/p>\n

El treball ha estat coordinat per Alexandre Raymond i Jacques Beckman, de l\u2019hospital regional de Lausana, a Su\u00efssa, i ha comptat amb la participaci\u00f3 de cinc centres espanyols: l\u2019Institut d\u2019Investigaci\u00f3 Biom\u00e8dica de Girona (JM Fernandez-Real), el Centre de Regulaci\u00f3 Gen\u00f2mica (X. Estivill y M. Gratac\u00f3s), la Universitat Rovira i Virgili de Tarragona (C. Richart), l\u2019Hospital Virgen de la Victoria de M\u00e0laga (FJ Tinahones), i l\u2019IDIBELL (S. Jimenez-Murcia y F.
