Les seq\u00fc\u00e8ncies millor estudiades del genoma s\u00f3n gens que codifiquen prote\u00efnes, per\u00f2 aquests nom\u00e9s representen el 1,5% del genoma. Per tant, una gran part del genoma, l\u2019anomenat genoma fosc, est\u00e0 constitu\u00eft per seq\u00fc\u00e8ncies transcrites que poden tenir una import\u00e0ncia biol\u00f2gica cr\u00edtica.<\/p>\n

La import\u00e0ncia d’aquesta part funcional del genoma que no codifica prote\u00efnes \u00e9s particularment evident en un grup de ARNs els microARNs. En c\u00e0ncer hum\u00e0, els estudis realitzats pel nostre grup i uns altres han demostrat que els defectes epigen\u00e8tics i gen\u00e8tics en els microARNs i la seva maquin\u00e0ria de processament s\u00f3n una caracter\u00edstica comuna de la malaltia. Per\u00f2, m\u00e9s enll\u00e0 dels microARNs existeixen altres ARNs no codificants que puguin estar alterats en les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules canceroses?<\/p>\n

Els resultats de la recerca ens permetran obtenir, en el futur, el primer mapa del genoma no codificant transcrit en el c\u00e0ncer hum\u00e0, una \u201csignatura epigen\u00e9tica\u201d que podria tenir conseq\u00fc\u00e8ncies valuoses no nom\u00e9s per a la comprensi\u00f3 de la malaltia sin\u00f3 tamb\u00e9 per al desenvolupament de nous marcadors moleculars i ter\u00e0pies dirigides.<\/p>\n
