Investigadors de l\u2019IDIBELL han desenvolupat un model terap\u00e8utic precl\u00ednic per provar nous tractaments contra la met\u00e0stasi cerebral en pacients de c\u00e0ncer de mama. Els resultats de l\u2019estudi s\u2019han publicat a la revista International Journal of Molecular Sciences.<\/p>\n

La met\u00e0stasi cerebral afecta el 30% de les pacients de c\u00e0ncer de mama que desenvolupen met\u00e0stasi. Actualment el tractament d’elecci\u00f3 \u00e9s la radioter\u00e0pia. Nom\u00e9s en casos concrets est\u00e0 indicada la cirurgia amb radioter\u00e0pia posterior. Hi ha diversos estudis cl\u00ednics en marxa per valorar l’efic\u00e0cia de la quimioter\u00e0pia, per\u00f2 a hores d’ara, no hi ha indicaci\u00f3 per donar quimioter\u00e0pia com a tractament exclusiu.<\/p>\n

En tot cas, la superviv\u00e8ncia en aquestes pacients \u00e9s d\u2019entre dos i setze mesos.<\/p>\n

Model precl\u00ednic de radioter\u00e0pia<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fins ara els models amb ratolins per tractar tumors amb radioter\u00e0pia implicaven irradiar tot el cos de l\u2019animal. La coordinadora de l\u2019estudi, \u00c0ngels Sierra ha explicat que \u201caquest model limitava molt la superviv\u00e8ncia dels ratolins i, a m\u00e9s a m\u00e9s, no es corresponia amb el tractament que es fa servir en humans\u201d.<\/p>\n

Els investigadors han ideat un model que, de forma precisa, permet irradiar el cervell de ratolins amb la dosi adequada sobre la zona del cervell afectada per la met\u00e0stasi, de la manera m\u00e9s similar possible a com es fa en pacients amb c\u00e0ncer de mama que desenvolupen met\u00e0stasi cerebral.<\/p>\n

\u201cAquest nou model\u201d, ha dit Sierra, \u201cens permetr\u00e0 poder provar combinacions de radio i quimioter\u00e0pia experimental i saber si s\u00f3n candidats a ser testats en pacients amb un assaig cl\u00ednic\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ara per ara, els investigadors de l\u2019IDIBELL han provat una combinaci\u00f3 de r\u00e0dio i quimioter\u00e0pia en qu\u00e8 els ratolins control que no rebien cap tractament i els que rebien nom\u00e9s radioter\u00e0pia presentaven una superviv\u00e8ncia similar, mentre que els que havien rebut la combinaci\u00f3 de radioter\u00e0pia i un f\u00e0rmac quimioterap\u00e8utic multiplicaven per quatre la seva superviv\u00e8ncia.<\/p>\n

Segons ha explicat el primer signant de l\u2019article, Antonio Mart\u00ednez-Aranda, una de les bondats d\u2019aquest nou model \u00e9s la seva reproductibilitat, \u00e9s a dir \u201cque altres grups de recerca podran utilitzar aquest model precl\u00ednic per provar diverses combinacions de f\u00e0rmacs per tractar diferents tipus de met\u00e0stasi\u201d.<\/p>\n
