Les prote\u00efnes RCAN (Reguladores de Calcineurina) regulen processos biol\u00f2gics tan importants com la resposta immune, la remodelaci\u00f3 de fibres musculars i la mem\u00f2ria, i estan tamb\u00e9 involucrades en processos patol\u00f2gics com la hipertr\u00f2fia card\u00edaca i les malalties neurodegeneratives. Aprofundir en el paper que juguen aquestes prote\u00efnes a nivell cel\u00b7lular \u00e9s important, donada la seva rellev\u00e0ncia funcional.<\/p>\n

Aquestes prote\u00efnes estan molt conservades en eucariotes (organismes pluricel\u00b7lulars i, en concret, en vertebrats formen una subfam\u00edlia funcional de tres membres (RCAN1, RCAN2 i RCAN3), mentre que en la resta d\u2019eucariotes nom\u00e9s es troba una prote\u00efna.<\/p>\n

Investigadors del grup de Gen\u00e8tica Humana Molecular de l\u2019IDIBELL, liderats per Merc\u00e8 P\u00e9rez proposen a partir de l\u2019an\u00e0lisi bioinform\u00e0tica una nova hip\u00f2tesi que explicaria com han evolucionat els gens que codifiquen per a aquesta fam\u00edlia de prote\u00efnes. En concret, els autors proposen que les RCANs han evolucionat mitjan\u00e7ant dos cicles de duplicaci\u00f3 total del genoma seguit d\u2019una duplicaci\u00f3 parcial del genoma. A m\u00e9s, han analitzat l\u2019estructura de tots els gens RCAN humans, on han identificat diferents elements estructurals comuns a tots ells, aix\u00ed com elements que podrien estar involucrats en la regulaci\u00f3 de la seva expressi\u00f3. Tots aquests resultats proporcionen nous coneixements sobre la fam\u00edlia de les RCANs i dels mecanismes moleculars subjacents a la seva funci\u00f3 en la c\u00e8l\u00b7lula. Aquest major coneixement d\u2019aquesta fam\u00edlia \u00e9s crucial ja que les RCANs s\u00f3n candidates per al desenvolupament de futures ter\u00e0pies en diverses malalties,entre elles les malalties immunit\u00e0ries.<\/p>\n
