Els receptors ionotr\u00f2pics de glutamat exerceixen nombroses funcions en el funcionament fisiol\u00f2gic de les sinapsis, i la seva desregulaci\u00f3 est\u00e0 associada a m\u00faltiples condicions neuropatol\u00f2giques. Cada cop existeixen m\u00e9s evid\u00e8ncies que indiquen que les subclasses d’aquests receptors (NMDA, AMPA o Kainat) s\u00f3n estructures din\u00e0miques que es mobilitzen entre el citosol i la membrana neuronal, on actuen com a canals de calci. Aix\u00f2 ha obert noves vies de recerca que tenen com a objectiu explicar com i per qu\u00e8 aquests receptors arriben a la membrana sin\u00e0ptica o a l\u2019abandonen. <\/p>\n

L\u2019investigador David Soto, del grup de recerca de Neurobiologia Cel\u00b7lular i Molecular, i el cap del subgrup de Neurobiologia dels receptors ionotr\u00f2pics de glutamat, Xavier Altafaj, han publicat recentment dos estudis independents a la revista Frontiers of Neuroscience. En llurs estudis, s\u2019han identificat nous reguladors moleculars de la neurotransmissi\u00f3 glutamat\u00e8rgica que poden contribuir a importants canvis de paradigma en el camp i, sobretot, ajudar a entendre les pertorbacions en el tr\u00e0nsit de receptors de glutamat implicats en la patog\u00e8nesi de les malalties neurol\u00f2giques. <\/p>\n

El treball del grup de Soto (Gratac\u00f3s-Batlle et al., <\/em>2015) descriu la carnitina palmitoiltransferasa 1C (CPT1C) com un nou regulador de l’expressi\u00f3 de superf\u00edcie de receptors AMPA (AMPARs) en neurones. La modulaci\u00f3 fina del tr\u00e0nsit a la membrana dels AMPARs \u00e9s fonamental en l’activitat sin\u00e0ptica normal i en processos de plasticitat sin\u00e0ptica. Els autors presenten CPT1C com a candidata per regular la fisiologia neuronal dels AMPARs. <\/p>\n

D\u2019altra banda, l\u2019estudi publicat pel grup de Xavier Altafaj (Grau et al<\/em>., 2014) descriu la prote\u00efna quinasa DYRK1A com a un regulador directe dels receptors NMDA, i proposa un nou mecanisme per al control de la neurotransmissi\u00f3 glutamat\u00e8rgica a les neurones. En el context de la s\u00edndrome de Down (SD), patologia en la que el grup d\u2019Altafaj havia demostrat pr\u00e8viament el paper clau de DYRK1A i de la desregulaci\u00f3 dels receptors NMDAR (NMDARs), aquest estudi proporciona l’evid\u00e8ncia molecular, cel\u00b7lular i funcional que DYRK1A afecta directament NMDAR, obrint aix\u00ed noves vies per entendre i dissenyar estrat\u00e8gies terap\u00e8utiques. <\/p>\n
