Investigadors de l\u2019Institut d\u2019Investigaci\u00f3 Biom\u00e8dica de Bellvitge (IDIBELL) lideraran el projecte pan-europeu Targeting the metabolism-immune system connections in Cancer (META-CAN), una xarxa de formaci\u00f3 innovadora (ITN) finan\u00e7ada per la Comissi\u00f3 Europea que permetr\u00e0 contractar i formar a quinze estudiants de doctorat en metabolisme, immunitat i c\u00e0ncer durant tres anys. La Dra Cristina Mu\u00f1oz-Pinedo, cap del grup de recerca en mort cel\u00b7lular a l\u2019IDIBELL, ser\u00e0 la coordinadora del programa, on tamb\u00e9 participa com a investigador supervisor el Dr. \u00d2scar Mart\u00ednez-Tirado, l\u00edder del grup de recerca en sarcoma de l\u2019institut.<\/p>\n

“La coordinaci\u00f3 d\u2019una ITN ofereix una visi\u00f3 de conjunt en un tema d\u2019 inter\u00e8s actual, a banda d\u2019ajudar a potenciar la visibilitat de la instituci\u00f3 en \u00e0mbits europeus\u201d, explica la Dra. Mu\u00f1oz-Pinedo. \u201cEls investigadors supervisors tenim l\u2019oportunitat d\u2019incorporar a personal jove amb altes compet\u00e8ncies als nostres grups de recerca i iniciar o enfortir la relaci\u00f3 amb entitats privades. D\u2019altra banda, els joves investigadors contractats a trav\u00e9s d\u2019aquesta xarxa podran gaudir d\u2019una formaci\u00f3 d\u2019alt nivell que els permetr\u00e0 progressar en la seva carrera\u201d, afegeix el Dr. Mart\u00ednez-Tirado.<\/p>\n

A nivell de recerca, el projecte vol aprofundir en els canvis metab\u00f2lics en els tumors i els seus efectes. Els investigadors intentaran esbrinar de quina manera la disponibilitat de nutrients i oxigen condiciona la interacci\u00f3 entre c\u00e8l\u00b7lules tumorals i sistema immunitari, i com aquesta comunicaci\u00f3 \u00e9s o pot ser controlada per oncogens, reguladors metab\u00f2lics o potencials tractaments dirigits. \u201cEntendre com el metabolisme afecta les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules tumorals i la resposta immunit\u00e0ria ens obrir\u00e0 una oportunitat d\u2019intervenci\u00f3 terap\u00e8utica a nivell de desenvolupament de nous f\u00e0rmacs i biomarcadors de diagn\u00f2stic\u201d, explica la Dra. Mu\u00f1oz-Pinedo.<\/p>\n

La ITN META-CAN agrupa a 10 centres de recerca o empreses del sector biom\u00e8dic provinents de 6 pa\u00efsos (Espanya, Fran\u00e7a, Pa\u00efsos Baixos, B\u00e8lgica, Israel i \u00c0ustria), a banda d\u2019una extensa xarxa de col\u00b7laboradors. Despr\u00e9s dels quatre anys de durada del programa, s\u2019espera que els 15 participants contractats siguin capa\u00e7os de navegar f\u00e0cilment entre els sectors acad\u00e8mic, cl\u00ednic i industrial per tal d\u2019afavorir la conversi\u00f3 de troballes de recerca en aplicacions comercials i cl\u00edniques.<\/p>\n

La convocat\u00f2ria d\u2019ajudes per a l\u2019establiment d\u2019ITN, emmarcada dins les ajudes Marie Sklodowska-Curie, \u00e9s molt competitiva, amb una taxa d\u2019\u00e8xit del 7% i la dificultat afegida que comporta preparar una \u00fanica proposta a partir de la contribuci\u00f3 dels diferents socis participants. Ofereix sous molt competitius als estudiants de doctorat que permet contractar i afavoreix molt\u00edssim la seva mobilitat, no nom\u00e9s entre pa\u00efsos sin\u00f3 tamb\u00e9 entre sectors, posant-los en contacte amb investigadors, metges i empresaris farmac\u00e8utics de prestigi mundial.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
