Un equip d’investigadors de l’Institut d\u2019Investigaci\u00f3 Biom\u00e8dica de Bellvitge (IDIBELL) ha aconseguit caracteritzar els epigenomes complets dels tumors m\u00e9s freq\u00fcents, entre ells els de c\u00e0ncer de c\u00f2lon, pulm\u00f3 i mama. El seu treball, publicat a Oncogene<\/em>, ha estat dirigit pel Dr. Manel Esteller, director del Programa d’Epigen\u00e8tica i Biologia del C\u00e0ncer de l’IDIBELL, investigador ICREA i Professor de Gen\u00e8tica de la Universitat de Barcelona, i suposa un aven\u00e7 important en l’estudi de l’origen i la progressi\u00f3 d’aquests tumors. <\/p>\n

“L’an\u00e0lisi realitzada ha perm\u00e8s obtenir una primera mirada sense esbiaixar de tot el metiloma de les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules tumorals en tumors s\u00f2lids”, explica el Dr. Manel Esteller, l\u00edder de l’estudi. “No nom\u00e9s hem comprovat que molts gens antic\u00e0ncer veuen frenada la seva activitat de manera espec\u00edfica en els \u00f2rgans afectats per un c\u00e0ncer, sin\u00f3 que tamb\u00e9 hem demostrat que hi ha altres alteracions en regions cromos\u00f2miques llunyanes que afecten aquests \u00f2rgans, ja que en el m\u00f3n tridimensional de les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules aquestes seq\u00fc\u00e8ncies es troben en posicions relatives molt pr\u00f2ximes”. <\/p>\n

\u00c9s conegut que els gens inhibidors de tumors perden la seva funci\u00f3 protectora si se’ls afegeix una determinada modificaci\u00f3 qu\u00edmica (“epi-gen\u00e8tica”, per sobre del gen). La principal modificaci\u00f3 sol ser un senyal de “stop” anomenada metilaci\u00f3 de l’ADN. El genoma hum\u00e0 posseeix 28 milions de punts candidats a ser regulats per aquesta modificaci\u00f3, per\u00f2 les t\u00e8cniques m\u00e9s usades nom\u00e9s permeten estudiar 1 mili\u00f3 de punts. L’estudi de l’IDIBELL supera aquesta barrera. <\/p>\n

Paral\u00b7lelament, la recerca desenvolupada mostra que de vegades hi ha fragments d’ADN llargs en els quals tots els gens ve\u00efns pateixen alteracions de la senyal qu\u00edmica, com si fossin blocs alterats a l’un\u00edson de manera epigen\u00e8tica. <\/p>\n

“Nom\u00e9s hem obert la primera tapa d’aquesta caixa”, apunta el Dr. Esteller. “Totes les dades obtingudes en l’estudi s\u00f3n ara accessibles de manera p\u00fablica i permetran nous an\u00e0lisis bioinform\u00e0tics que segur ens proporcionaran m\u00e9s pistes sobre l’origen i progressi\u00f3 d’aquests tumors”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
