Investigadors de l’Institut d\u2019investigaci\u00f3 Biom\u00e8dica de Bellvitge (IDIBELL), liderats per la doctora Cristina Costa, han generat un nou model animal per a l’estudi de xenotrasplantaments, \u00e9s a dir, trasplantaments en humans de c\u00e8l\u00b7lules, teixits i \u00f2rgans procedents d’altres animals. El treball s’enquadra en una l\u00ednia de recerca centrada en el desenvolupament de noves ter\u00e0pies cel\u00b7lulars per a la reparaci\u00f3 de cart\u00edlag articular, l’afectaci\u00f3 del qual \u00e9s molt sovint causa de l’alta freq\u00fc\u00e8ncia de lesions per traumatisme, artritis o artrosi. Les caracter\u00edstiques d’aquest nou model, molt m\u00e9s espec\u00edfic que els anteriors, el doten d’un gran valor precl\u00ednic en el desenvolupament d’estrat\u00e8gies terap\u00e8utiques per evitar el rebuig immunol\u00f2gic, el principal obstacle per a la implementaci\u00f3 d’aquest tipus de trasplantaments. <\/p>\n

Fins ara, els models animals utilitzats per xenotrasplantament en aquest camp es basaven en l’\u00fas de condr\u00f2cits (c\u00e8l\u00b7lules de cart\u00edlag) porcins en una zona ex\u00f2gena, diferent a les zones on habitualment es troba aquest tipus de teixit. “Aquest nou model ens permet realitzar, per primera vegada, una injecci\u00f3 intraarticular, molt m\u00e9s espec\u00edfica de cada a estudis de reparaci\u00f3 de cart\u00edlag articular”, comenta la doctora Costa. <\/p>\n

De totes maneres, la investigaci\u00f3 que permetr\u00e0 desenvolupar el nou model, basat en rates, no se centra tant en la funcionalitat de l’articulaci\u00f3, sin\u00f3 en evitar el rebuig immunol\u00f2gic del xenotrasplantament, que a dia d’avui encara \u00e9s la principal barrera de cara a donar el salt definitiu a la cl\u00ednica. Part del treball, publicat a la revista Frontiers in Immunology<\/em>, explora aquest vessant. <\/p>\n

“En primer lloc, hem confirmat que els condr\u00f2cits porcins, en aquest nou model, indueixen una resposta immunit\u00e0ria, tant cel\u00b7lular com a nivell d’anticossos. Aquesta troballa ens d\u00f3na la base per al desenvolupament d’estrat\u00e8gies que disminueixin aquesta reacci\u00f3”, explica la investigadora de l’IDIBELL. El model suposa una eina que permet observar el xenotrasplantament de cart\u00edlag d’una forma molt m\u00e9s an\u00e0loga als humans. “Si aconseguim superar el rebuig, obrirem la porta a nombroses aplicacions cl\u00edniques”. <\/p>\n

Paral\u00b7lelament, l’equip de recerca tamb\u00e9 ha aprofitat el model per avaluar la capacitat de les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules mare mesenquimals de regular el rebuig observat. “De moment no hem trabat el tipus de c\u00e8l\u00b7lules capa\u00e7 d’actuar sobre el rebuig, per\u00f2 encara ens queda molt cam\u00ed per rec\u00f3rrer en aquest camp\u201d, conclou la doctora. De la mateixa manera, una altra de les l\u00ednies de recerca del grup \u00e9s la modificaci\u00f3 gen\u00e8tica de condr\u00f2cits per millorar la seva compatibilitat immunol\u00f2gica un cop trasplantats, una estrat\u00e8gia alternativa que tamb\u00e9 agafa for\u00e7a gr\u00e0cies a les noves t\u00e8cniques d’edici\u00f3 gen\u00e8tica.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
