Investigadors del grup de Gen\u00e8tica Molecular Humana de l’Institut d\u2019Investigaci\u00f3 Biom\u00e8dica de Bellvitge (IDIBELL), liderats per la Dra Sara Larriba, han identificat un nou biomarcador no invasiu de la pres\u00e8ncia d’espermatozoides en els testicles d’homes azoosp\u00e8rmics, que representen el 10% de els casos d’esterilitat masculina. El treball, publicat a la prestigiosa revista internacional\u00a0Human Reproduction<\/em>, s’ha realitzat en col\u00b7laboraci\u00f3 amb l’equip del Dr. Bassas, del Servei d’Andrologia de la Fundaci\u00f3 Puigvert.<\/p>\n

La azoosp\u00e8rmia, abs\u00e8ncia total d’espermatozoides en l’ejaculat, provoca esterilitat, per\u00f2 no sempre descarta t\u00e8cniques de reproducci\u00f3 assistida com la ICSI (injecci\u00f3 intracitoplasm\u00e0tica d’espermatozoides) amb espermatozoides o esperm\u00e1tides recuperades del propi testicle. “Tot i que les determinacions hormonals i altres dades cl\u00edniques poden orientar-nos, encara falten m\u00e8todes de diagn\u00f2stic no invasiu que determinin amb precisi\u00f3 si hi ha espermatozoides al testicle en homes azoosp\u00e8rmics, condici\u00f3 determinant per a un tractament de reproducci\u00f3 assistida. Per tant, el diagn\u00f2stic sempre obliga a realitzar una bi\u00f2psia”, comenta el Dr. Bassas.<\/p>\n

L’equip investigador ha determinat que la quantificaci\u00f3 de certes mol\u00e8cules d’\u00e0cid ribonucleic anomenades miRNAs, contingudes en unes ves\u00edcules del plasma seminal, poden utilitzar-se com biomarcadors no invasius de la pres\u00e8ncia d’espermatozoides en testicle, pel que representen una alternativa per identificar\u00a0a priori<\/em>\u00a0aquells individus amb possibilitats reals de recuperaci\u00f3 positiva d’espermatozoides, evitant bi\u00f2psies innecess\u00e0ries. “El plasma seminal mostra una alta concentraci\u00f3 d’\u00e0cid ribonucleic (RNA), tant RNA missatger (mRNA) com d\u2019altres RNAs (miRNAs), que poden identificar-se i quantificar-se, el que els converteix en candidats a biomarcadors no invasius de diagn\u00f2stic i pron\u00f2stic” explica la Dra Larriba, responsable de la l\u00ednia de Gen\u00e8tica Molecular de la Fertilitat Masculina a l\u2019IDIBELL.<\/p>\n
