Una investigaci\u00f3 liderada pel grup de TGF-Beta i C\u00e0ncer<\/a> de l’IDIBELL ha disseccionat el paper de la prote\u00efna NOX4 en la resposta al TGF-beta, un dels factors que controla l’aven\u00e7 del carcinoma hepatocel\u00b7lular, el tipus m\u00e9s com\u00fa de c\u00e0ncer de fetge.<\/p>\n

L’equip dirigit per la Dra. Isabel Fabregat, investigadora de l’IDIBELL i CIBEREHD, ha demostrat que NOX4 \u00e9s necessari per frenar el creixement de les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules canceroses en resposta a TGF-beta, com a part de les accions supressores de tumors d’aquest factor. No obstant aix\u00f2, en contra del que s’esperava, el pron\u00f2stic dels pacients que expressen alts nivells de NOX4 i TGF-beta \u00e9s menys favorable, cosa que suggereix que aquesta prote\u00efna en certs contextos tamb\u00e9 pot promoure accions pro-tumorog\u00e8niques. Davant d’aquest fet, els autors van aprofundir en el paper de NOX4 en resposta a TGF-beta demostrant que NOX4 tamb\u00e9 interv\u00e9 en la seva capacitat per induir migraci\u00f3 i invasi\u00f3, a trav\u00e9s de la regulaci\u00f3 del citoesquelet cel\u00b7lular.<\/p>\n

\u201cLes nostres troballes proporcionen una visi\u00f3 m\u00e9s profunda de com NOX4 i TGF-beta interactuen en el c\u00e0ncer de fetge. Aix\u00f2 podria obrir la porta a noves opcions de tractament i enfocaments personalitzats per als pacients”, afirma la Dra. Fabregat. I segueix: \u201cNOX4 ajuda a controlar el creixement del tumor, per\u00f2 tamb\u00e9 \u00e9s necessari perqu\u00e8 les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules canceroses es moguin i s\u2019estenguin\u201d.<\/p>\n

El treball s’ha realitzat en el context d’una col\u00b7laboraci\u00f3 dins del CIBEREHD, amb el grup de la Dra. M. Luz Mart\u00ednez-Chantar (CIC Biogune, Biscaia), i una col\u00b7laboraci\u00f3 internacional amb el grup del Dr. Gianluigi Giannelli (IRCCS Saverio De Bellis Research Hospital, Bari), i ha comptat amb el suport de l’Associaci\u00f3 Espanyola contra el C\u00e0ncer (AECC) i de l’Ag\u00e8ncia Estatal de Recerca (MICINN).<\/p>\n

El carcinoma hepatocel\u00b7lular \u00e9s una de les neopl\u00e0sies malignes m\u00e9s mortals a tot el m\u00f3n a causa de la seva alta taxa de recurr\u00e8ncia, alt potencial metast\u00e0tic i resist\u00e8ncia als medicaments. Per aquest motiu, els resultats d’aquesta investigaci\u00f3 s\u00f3n molt valuosos per a una comprensi\u00f3 millor i eventualment una lluita m\u00e9s efectiva contra aquesta malaltia.<\/p>\n

L\u2019Institut d’Investigaci\u00f3 Biom\u00e8dica de Bellvitge (IDIBELL) \u00e9s un centre de recerca en biomedicina creat l\u2019any 2004. Est\u00e0 participat per l’Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge i l\u2019Hospital de Viladecans de l’Institut Catal\u00e0 de la Salut, l’Institut Catal\u00e0 d’Oncologia, la Universitat de Barcelona i l\u2019Ajuntament de l\u2019Hospitalet de Llobregat.<\/em><\/p>\n

L\u2019IDIBELL \u00e9s membre del Campus d’Excel\u00b7l\u00e8ncia Internacional de la Universitat de Barcelona HUBc i forma part de la instituci\u00f3 CERCA de la Generalitat de Catalunya. L’any 2009 es va convertir en un dels cinc primers centres d\u2019investigaci\u00f3 espanyols acreditats com a institut d\u2019investigaci\u00f3 sanit\u00e0ria per l\u2019Instituto de Salud Carlos III. A m\u00e9s, forma part del programa \u201cHR Excellence in Research\u201d de la Uni\u00f3 Europea i \u00e9s membre de EATRIS i REGIC.
