Els resultats de l’estudi liderat pel Dr. lov Andersson, investigador s\u00e8nior del Departament de Biologia Cel\u00b7lular i Molecular de l’Institut Karolinska han identificat una nova mol\u00e8cula i desxifrat el mecanisme d\u2019acci\u00f3 que fa que aquesta mol\u00e8cula\u00a0 sigui capa\u00e7 d’estimular la formaci\u00f3 de noves c\u00e8l\u00b7lules productores d’insulina com a potencial tractament de la diabetis<\/p>\n

Tant la diabetis tipus 1 com el tipus 2 es caracteritzen per nivells elevats de sucre en sang. Aix\u00f2 pot ser degut a nivells baixos d’insulina end\u00f2gena, l’hormona necess\u00e0ria per a la captaci\u00f3 de glucosa de la sang, o b\u00e9, a una incapacitat fisiol\u00f2gica per utilitzar la insulina secretada, o ambdues. Les injeccions d’insulina i els f\u00e0rmacs que baixen la glucosa poden controlar la malaltia, per\u00f2 no curar-la.<\/p>\n

Una alternativa a aquests f\u00e0rmacs podria ser un tractament que reguli la glucosa en sang augmentant el nombre de c\u00e8l\u00b7lules \u03b2 pancre\u00e0tiques productores d’insulina, per\u00f2 per aix\u00f2 cal controlar la regeneraci\u00f3 d’aquestes c\u00e8l\u00b7lules.<\/p>\n

En estudis previs, l’equip del Karolinska havia descrit una mol\u00e8cula petita capa\u00e7 d’estimular la regeneraci\u00f3 de les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules productores d’insulina. Ho van aconseguir analitzant una \u00e0mplia bateria de mol\u00e8cules en el model de peix zebra. En el present estudi, examinen el mecanisme molecular d’aquesta estimulaci\u00f3.<\/p>\n

Mitjan\u00e7ant l’an\u00e0lisi d’un gran nombre d’interaccions moleculars en c\u00e8l\u00b7lules de llevat, els investigadors han demostrat que la seva mol\u00e8cula s’uneix a una prote\u00efna anomenada MNK2. Estudis posteriors en peix zebra i cultius cel\u00b7lulars indiquen que la mol\u00e8cula funciona regulant la traducci\u00f3 de l’ARNm i potenciant la s\u00edntesi de prote\u00efnes, sense les quals no es pot augmentar la formaci\u00f3 de noves c\u00e8l\u00b7lules \u03b2.<\/p>\n

L’estudi tamb\u00e9 mostra que la mol\u00e8cula pot induir la formaci\u00f3 de noves c\u00e8l\u00b7lules \u03b2 pancre\u00e0tiques de porc i estimular l’expressi\u00f3 d’insulina en organoids humans (formacions cel\u00b7lulars semblants a \u00f2rgans).<\/p>\n
