Un estudi de l’Institut d’Investigaci\u00f3 Biom\u00e8dica de Bellvitge (IDIBELL<\/a>) i de l’Institut Catal\u00e0 d’Oncologia (ICO<\/a>) apunta que el consum d’ous est\u00e0 associat a un menor risc de patir dem\u00e8ncia<\/strong>, en especial Alzheimer, en les persones adultes que no segueixen la dieta mediterr\u00e0nia. En canvi, aquest consum no aporta cap efecte neuroprotector extra a les persones que ja segueixen aquesta dieta.<\/p>\n Els ous s\u00f3n un aliment nutricionalment molt interessant, ja que contenen diversos components beneficiosos per a la salut, com poden ser amino\u00e0cids essencials, vitamina B o diversos components bioactius<\/strong>, petites mol\u00e8cules que es troben en alguns aliments i poden tenir uns efectes beneficiosos per la salut. Treballs previs havien suggerit que la composici\u00f3 dels ous podria tenir potencial neuroprotector.<\/p>\n Ra\u00fcl Zamora-Ros<\/strong>, l\u00edder de l’article publicat a la revista Frontiers in Nutrition<\/em><\/a> i investigador principal del grup de recerca en Nutrici\u00f3 i C\u00e0ncer<\/a> de l’IDIBELL i de l’ICO explica perqu\u00e8 creuen que els ous nom\u00e9s tenen un efecte benefici\u00f3s en les persones que no segueixen la dieta mediterr\u00e0nia: “Una possible explicaci\u00f3 seria que els individus amb una dieta saludable ja incorporen aquests compostos beneficiosos per a la salut a trav\u00e9s d’altres aliments, mentre que en les dietes menys saludables els ous podrien ser una font important de compostos bioactius amb efectes neuroprotectors entre d\u2019altres<\/em>“.<\/p>\n La dem\u00e8ncia afecta 50 milions de persones a tot el m\u00f3n, i amb l’envelliment de la poblaci\u00f3 s’espera que aquest nombre augmenti fins a 152 milions el 2050. El tipus de dem\u00e8ncia m\u00e9s comuna \u00e9s la malaltia d’Alzheimer, que representa un 60% del total de casos. Fins ara no hi ha cap tractament eficient ni per guarir ni per aturar la dem\u00e8ncia, amb la qual cosa la prevenci\u00f3 \u00e9s l’estrat\u00e8gia m\u00e9s efica\u00e7 per reduir-ne la incid\u00e8ncia<\/strong>. A trav\u00e9s de diversos estudis, s’ha demostrat que modificar 12 factors de risc coneguts, com l’educaci\u00f3, el tabac, l’obesitat, l’alcohol, l’activitat f\u00edsica, o la dieta, pot prevenir o \u00a0retardar l\u2019aparici\u00f3 de fins al 40% de les dem\u00e8ncies.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n A l’estudi hi han participat 25.000 persones procedents de la cohort EPIC<\/strong> (de l’angl\u00e8s, European Prospective Investigarien into Cancer and Nutrition) de l’Estat Espanyol. Es tracta d’un estudi prospectiu d’individus dintre 30 i 70 anys als quals se’ls hi ha analitzat la dieta a trav\u00e9s d’un q\u00fcestionari, i als que se’ls hi ha fet seguiment durant vint anys per veure si desenvolupaven algun tipus de dem\u00e8ncia.<\/p>\n D’entre tots els participants 770 van patir dem\u00e8ncia, 520 dels quals corresponia a malaltia d\u2019Alzheimer.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n L\u2019Institut d’Investigaci\u00f3 Biom\u00e8dica de Bellvitge (IDIBELL) \u00e9s un centre de recerca en biomedicina creat l\u2019any 2004. Est\u00e0 participat per l’Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge i l\u2019Hospital de Viladecans de l’Institut Catal\u00e0 de la Salut, l’Institut Catal\u00e0 d’Oncologia, la Universitat de Barcelona i l\u2019Ajuntament de l\u2019Hospitalet de Llobregat.<\/em><\/p>\n L\u2019IDIBELL \u00e9s membre del Campus d’Excel\u00b7l\u00e8ncia Internacional de la Universitat de Barcelona HUBc i forma part de la instituci\u00f3 CERCA de la Generalitat de Catalunya. L’any 2009 es va convertir en un dels cinc primers centres d\u2019investigaci\u00f3 espanyols acreditats com a institut d\u2019investigaci\u00f3 sanit\u00e0ria per l\u2019Instituto de Salud Carlos III. A m\u00e9s, forma part del programa \u201cHR Excellence in Research\u201d de la Uni\u00f3 Europea i \u00e9s membre de EATRIS i REGIC.
