El c\u00e0ncer de pr\u00f2stata \u00e9s el c\u00e0ncer m\u00e9s prevalent en homes arreu del m\u00f3n, i de fet va representar la cinquena causa de mort per c\u00e0ncer en homes l\u2019any 2020. Prop d\u2019un 70% dels pacients amb c\u00e0ncer de pr\u00f2stata en estadis avan\u00e7ats, les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules canceroses es desplacen fins el torrent sanguini i arriben a instal\u00b7lar-se als ossos. Aquest fenomen es coneix com a met\u00e0stasi \u00f2ssia i dona lloc a complicacions que perjudiquen greument la qualitat de vida del pacient, a m\u00e9s de reduir dr\u00e0sticament les probabilitats de superviv\u00e8ncia.<\/p>\n

Un grup d\u2019investigadors de l\u2019Institut d\u2019Investigaci\u00f3 Biom\u00e8dica de Bellvitge (IDIBELL<\/a>), de la Universitat de Barcelona (UB) i Vall d\u2019Hebr\u00f3n Recerca ha fet un estudi per identificar quines mol\u00e8cules podrien afavorir la met\u00e0stasi \u00f2ssia en el c\u00e0ncer de pr\u00f2stata<\/strong>. Tal com expliquen al seu treball, publicat a la revista Cancers<\/em><\/a>, han observat que les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules tumorals amb una baixa expressi\u00f3 d\u2019una mol\u00e8cula concreta, el microRNA miR-135b<\/em><\/strong>, tenen m\u00e9s capacitat per a establir met\u00e0stasi \u00f2ssia. \u00c9s a dir, una de les funcions de miR-135b<\/em> seria evitar aquesta complicaci\u00f3 en els estadis m\u00e9s avan\u00e7ats de la malaltia. Els resultats han estat possibles gr\u00e0cies a l\u2019estudi de mostres de pacients del Servei d\u2019Urologia de l\u2019Hospital Universitari Vall Hebron.<\/p>\n

Els microRNAs s\u00f3n petites mol\u00e8cules que regulen l\u2019expressi\u00f3 de gens concrets i, per tant, el funcionament de la c\u00e8l\u00b7lula. \u201cAlguns microRNAs poden promoure el creixement del tumor i d\u2019altres el poden restringir, per tant, si arribem a con\u00e8ixer b\u00e9 com funcionen, podrien representar eines molt valuoses per controlar i tractar aquesta malaltia\u201d<\/em>, expliquen les \u00a0Dres. Ruth Rodr\u00edguez-Barrueco i Anna Santamaria, <\/strong>coordinadores d\u2019aquest treball i investigadores de l\u2019IDIBELL i del Vall d\u2019Hebron Recerca, respectivament.<\/p>\n

La Dra. Mireia Olivan<\/strong>, ara investigadora de l\u2019IDIBELL i la UB i primera autora de l\u2019estudi, afegeix que \u201canalitzar els nivells del miR-135b en els casos de c\u00e0ncer de pr\u00f2stata podria ser, doncs, un indicador del pron\u00f2stic d\u2019aquesta malaltia, a m\u00e9s de ser \u00fatil a l\u2019hora de dissenyar nous tractaments\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n
