El Parkinson \u00e9s una malaltia neurodegenerativa que es caracteritza per la mort de les neurones anomenades dopamin\u00e8rgiques, el que causa les afectacions motores pr\u00f2pies d’aquest trastorn. La p\u00e8rdua de neurones \u00e9s causada per l’acumulaci\u00f3 d’agregats de la prote\u00efna \u03b1-sinucle\u00efna. Aquesta \u00e9s una prote\u00efna present de manera fisiol\u00f2gica en molts tipus neuronals, per\u00f2, la formaci\u00f3 anormal d’agregats de \u03b1-sinucle\u00efna afecta la funci\u00f3 neuronal arribant a causar la mort d’aquestes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

La nanotecnologia ha ajudat a entendre millor i a buscar nous abordatges terap\u00e8utics per a malalties com el Parkinson. Entre ells destaquen els dendr\u00edmers, pol\u00edmers molt ramificats amb geometries \u00faniques i ben definides<\/strong> que eviten la formaci\u00f3 d’agregats de \u03b1-sinucle\u00efna i permeten la seva solubilitzaci\u00f3. Aquesta habilitat dels dendr\u00edmers els ha convertit en una prometedora estrat\u00e8gia terap\u00e8utica del Parkinson. De fet, ja han demostrat la seva efic\u00e0cia impedint l’agregaci\u00f3 de prote\u00efnes in vitro<\/em> i en l\u00ednies cel\u00b7lulars.<\/p>\n

Ara, els grups del Prof. \u00c1ngel Raya<\/strong> i de la Dra. Antonella Consiglio<\/strong>, dels programes de Medicina Regenerativa i Neuroci\u00e8ncies de l’IDIBELL, respectivament, en col\u00b7laboraci\u00f3 amb investigadors de la Universitat d’Alcal\u00e1, han analitzat l’efectivitat dels dendr\u00edmers en l’acumulaci\u00f3 end\u00f2gena de \u03b1-sinucle\u00efna en neurones procedents de pacients de Parkinson<\/strong>. Per a aix\u00f2 han fet servir com a model neurones dopamin\u00e8rgiques diferenciades a partir de c\u00e8l\u00b7lules mare de pacients de Parkinson.<\/p>\n

El treball publicat a la revista Biomacromolecules<\/em><\/a> demostra que el tractament de les neurones humanes amb dendr\u00edmers evita l’acumulaci\u00f3 patol\u00f2gica de \u03b1-sinucle\u00efna. “Els nostres resultats, en un model genu\u00ed de Parkinson, destaquen el potencial terap\u00e8utic dels sistemes dendr\u00edtics, una estrat\u00e8gia eficient i segura que podria posposar o fins i tot aturar la progressi\u00f3 del Parkinson<\/em>” afirma la Dra. Raquel Ferrer<\/strong>, investigadora del programa de Medicina Regenerativa de l’IDIBELL que ha liderat el treball.<\/p>\n
