Sabem que l’edat avan\u00e7ada i la coexist\u00e8ncia d’altres patologies (cardiovasculars, obesitat, diabetis, defectes immunes) s’associa a una major gravetat de la infecci\u00f3, \u00bfPer\u00f2 qu\u00e8 passa amb la resta de la poblaci\u00f3 que tamb\u00e9 arriba a la UCI sense aquests factors?<\/em> \u201c- es va preguntar el Dr. Esteller<\/strong> a l’article a la revista EBiomedicine<\/em> i afegeix “Vam decidir estudiar m\u00e9s de 400 persones que havien donat positiu per al test de COVID-19 que no pertanyien a cap d’aquests grups de risc i estudiar el seu material gen\u00e8tic en funci\u00f3 de si no havien tingut s\u00edmptomes, o van ser molt lleus, o si, en canvi, havien estat ingressats a l’hospital requerint assist\u00e8ncia respirat\u00f2ria. Hem trobat que existeixen variacions epigen\u00e8tiques, en els interruptors qu\u00edmics que regulen l’activitat de l’ADN, en els positius pel virus que desenvolupaven un COVID-19 greu. Aquestes modificacions succeeixen principalment en gens associats amb una excessiva resposta inflamat\u00f2ria i en gens que reflecteixen una tend\u00e8ncia general a un pitjor estat de salut. Interessantment, el 13% de la poblaci\u00f3 mundial presenta aquesta signatura epigen\u00e8tica (EPICOVID), per tant \u00e9s la poblaci\u00f3 de m\u00e0xim risc per la qual haurem de tenir una preocupaci\u00f3 especial.<\/em> ” – conclou l’investigador.<\/p>\nL’article publicat avui mostra els resultats de la recerca duta a terme aquests mesos d’estratificaci\u00f3 pron\u00f2stica en COVID-19, amb la intenci\u00f3 de contribuir a millorar el maneig cl\u00ednic de pacients infectats amb SARS-CoV-2. Els resultats d’aquestes investigacions impactaran favorablement en la salut de la poblaci\u00f3 en general, particularment en les persones afectades per les leuc\u00e8mies i les malalties hematol\u00f2giques malignes, especialment vulnerables a aquesta malaltia.<\/p>\n
