Un estudi liderat per investigadors del Programa d\u2019An\u00e0lisi de Dades Oncol\u00f2giques de l\u2019ICO<\/a>, el grup de recerca en c\u00e0ncer colorectal<\/a> de l\u2019IDIBELL, la Universitat de Barcelona<\/a> y el CIBER de Epidemiologia i Salut P\u00fablica (CIBERESP<\/a>) amb la col\u00b7laboraci\u00f3 del grup d\u2019investigaci\u00f3 liderat pel Graham Casey, del Centre de Recerca en Salut P\u00fablica Gen\u00f2mica de la Universitat de Virg\u00ednia (EUA), ha posat a l\u2019abast de la comunitat cient\u00edfica els resultats de l\u2019an\u00e0lisi de m\u00e9s de 400 bi\u00f2psies de c\u00f2lons<\/strong> sans, creant, aix\u00ed, el banc p\u00fablic m\u00e9s gran de dades sobre expressi\u00f3 de gens i variants gen\u00e8tiques al c\u00f2lon.<\/p>\n

Els resultats de l\u2019estudi s\u2019han publicat en un article cient\u00edfic a la revista Cellular and Molecular Gastroenterology and Hepatology<\/em><\/a>, liderat pel Dr. V\u00edctor Moreno<\/strong> (ICO-IDIBELL-UB-CiBERresp).<\/p>\n

La identificaci\u00f3 dels nivells d\u2019expressi\u00f3 dels gens en teixits sans \u00e9s clau per entendre per qu\u00e8 hi ha variants gen\u00e8tiques associades a malalties, com el c\u00e0ncer. En aquest sentit el projecte, anomenat “University of Barcelona and University of Virginia Genotyping and RNA Sequencing Project<\/strong>\u201d (BarcUVa-Seq<\/strong>), ha desenvolupat una web interactiva<\/a> que posa a disposici\u00f3 p\u00fablica les dades obtingudes, podent, aix\u00ed, explorar f\u00e0cilment la expressi\u00f3 gen\u00e8tica del c\u00f2lon i les associacions amb variants gen\u00e8tiques obtingudes en l\u2019estudi.<\/p>\n

En aquest sentit la base de dades permetr\u00e0 generar hip\u00f2tesis, entendre la funci\u00f3 de marcadors gen\u00e8tics ja associats amb el risc de patir una malaltia, dels quals no es coneixen els mecanismes moleculars involucrats, i prioritzar sobre quins gens i variants gen\u00e8tiques focalitzar recerques futures.<\/p>\n

Aix\u00ed mateix, gr\u00e0cies a les bi\u00f2psies analitzades s\u2019han identificat variants gen\u00e8tiques que regulen l\u2019expressi\u00f3 de gens involucrats en malalties del c\u00f2lon, com c\u00e0ncer colorectal o malalties inflamat\u00f2ries<\/strong>, per\u00f2 tamb\u00e9 d\u2019altres \u00f2rgans com el cervell, evidenciant la relaci\u00f3 intest\u00ed-cervell. Per exemple, s\u2019ha comprovat que part dels marcadors gen\u00e8tics associats a l\u2019esquizofr\u00e8nia estarien regulant gens al c\u00f2lon. A m\u00e9s, a l\u2019estudi es proposen nous gens probablement associats amb aquestes malalties.<\/p>\n

Un projecte innovador: BarcUVa-Seq<\/h3>\n

Aquest estudi neix de la col\u00b7laboraci\u00f3 amb investigadors dels Estats Units amb l\u2019objectiu principal de generar una base de dades epidemiol\u00f2giques de refer\u00e8ncia per entendre la biologia de les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules epitelials del c\u00f2lon (origen del c\u00e0ncer colorectal) i les seves relacions amb factors gen\u00e8tics i ambientals.<\/p>\n

Concretament BarcUVa-Seq, que \u00e9s el nom que rep aquest projecte, inclou dades de 485 voluntaris\/es de la Regi\u00f3 Metropolitana Sud, amb pacients reclutats a l\u2019Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge i l\u2019Hospital de Viladecans, sense cap lesi\u00f3 al c\u00f2lon i recollides en els \u00faltims cinc anys durant una colonosc\u00f2pia de cribratge rutinari. De fet, la mida mostral elevada i l\u2019homogene\u00eftat en la recol\u00b7lecci\u00f3 de les mostres ha suposat un valor afegit, ja que no es coneix cap altre estudi publicat amb aquestes caracter\u00edstiques fins a la data.<\/p>\n

L\u2019Institut d’Investigaci\u00f3 Biom\u00e8dica de Bellvitge (IDIBELL) \u00e9s un centre de recerca en biomedicina creat l\u2019any 2004. Est\u00e0 participat per l’Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge i l\u2019Hospital de Viladecans de l’Institut Catal\u00e0 de la Salut, l’Institut Catal\u00e0 d’Oncologia, la Universitat de Barcelona i l\u2019Ajuntament de l\u2019Hospitalet de Llobregat.<\/em><\/p>\n

L\u2019IDIBELL \u00e9s membre del Campus d’Excel\u00b7l\u00e8ncia Internacional de la Universitat de Barcelona HUBc i forma part de la instituci\u00f3 CERCA de la Generalitat de Catalunya. L’any 2009 es va convertir en un dels cinc primers centres d\u2019investigaci\u00f3 espanyols acreditats com a institut d\u2019investigaci\u00f3 sanit\u00e0ria per l\u2019Instituto de Salud Carlos III. A m\u00e9s, forma part del programa \u201cHR Excellence in Research\u201d de la Uni\u00f3 Europea i \u00e9s membre de EATRIS i REGIC.
