El c\u00e0ncer de tiroides \u00e9s un dels c\u00e0ncers endocrins m\u00e9s comuns<\/strong>, en els \u00faltims temps la seva incid\u00e8ncia ha anat augmentat paulatinament i \u00e9s fins a tres vegades m\u00e9s freq\u00fcent en dones que en homes. Es coneixen pocs factors de risc relacionats amb aquest tipus de c\u00e0ncer, \u00a0el m\u00e9s destacats s\u00f3n l\u2019exc\u00e9s de pes, l\u2019exposici\u00f3 a radiaci\u00f3 o les malalties benignes de la gl\u00e0ndula tiroides. No obstant, el paper de la dieta en la carcinog\u00e8nesi de tiroides \u00e9s encara bastant desconegut.<\/p>\n

Els polifenols s\u00f3n compostos presents als aliments d\u2019origen vegetal que han demostrat tenir efecte anticarcinog\u00e8nic<\/strong> en models cel\u00b7lulars i animals. Entre les seves propietats biol\u00f2giques hi destaquen els efectes antioxidants o antiinflamatoris. A m\u00e9s, s\u2019ha demostrat que indueixen la mort cel\u00b7lular i aturen la proliferaci\u00f3 de les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules del c\u00e0ncer de tiroides. Tot i els esperan\u00e7adors resultats d\u2019aquests estudis in vitro<\/em> i in vivo<\/em>, falten estudis cl\u00ednics en humans i epidemiol\u00f2gics que demostrin l\u2019associaci\u00f3 d\u2019aquests polifenols amb un menor risc de desenvolupar c\u00e0ncer de tiroides. Les poques aproximacions que relacionen polifenols i c\u00e0ncer de tiroides estan fetes mesurant l\u2019exposici\u00f3 a trav\u00e9s d\u2019enquestes diet\u00e8tiques, amb les limitacions d\u2019exactitud que aix\u00f2 comporta.<\/p>\n

Un estudi liderat pel Grup de Nutrici\u00f3 i C\u00e0ncer<\/a> de l\u2019Institut d\u2019Investigaci\u00f3 Biom\u00e8dica de Bellvitge (IDIBELL<\/a>) i l\u2019Institut Catal\u00e0 d\u2019Oncologia (ICO<\/a>), ha avaluat la relaci\u00f3 entre la concentraci\u00f3 en sang de polifenols i el risc de desenvolupar c\u00e0ncer de tiroides. \u201cL\u2019objectiu de l\u2019estudi era determinar si els polifenols podien tenir un rol preventiu en el c\u00e0ncer de tiroides, i si la detecci\u00f3 d\u2019aquests en sang representava una mesura m\u00e9s fiable que els q\u00fcestionaris\u201d<\/em>, afirma el Dr. Ra\u00fcl Zamora, l\u00edder del projecte.<\/p>\n

El treball, publicat a la revista The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition<\/em><\/a>, ha analitzat el nivell de polifenols en sang en 785 dones amb i sense c\u00e0ncer de tiroides, de la cohort europea EPIC (European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition<\/a>). Els resultats mostren que no hi ha una associaci\u00f3 clara entre el consum de polifenols i el risc de desenvolupar aquest tipus de c\u00e0ncer. No obstant, l\u2019estudi detecta tres polifenols concrets relacionats amb el consum de caf\u00e8 i cereals integrals: l\u2019\u00e0cid cafeic, l\u2019\u00e0cid 3,4-dihidroxifenilpropionic, i l\u2019\u00e0cid ferulic, que semblen estar relacionats amb una menor incid\u00e8ncia de c\u00e0ncer de tiroides, concretament el subtipus papil\u00b7lar. \u201cTot i que els resultats d\u2019aquest estudi no s\u00f3n concloents, es posa el focus en aquests compostos per aprofundir en la seva investigaci\u00f3 en estudis futurs\u201d<\/em>, assegura el Dr. Zamora.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
