Un reciente estudio publicado en la revista cient\u00edfica ‘Communications Biology<\/a>‘ ha dado un paso importante en la lucha contra el c\u00e1ncer infantil, sobre todo en aquellos ni\u00f1os\/as que padecen un c\u00e1ncer de dif\u00edcil evoluci\u00f3n o con riesgo de recaer. Se trata de la creaci\u00f3n de una colecci\u00f3n de modelos tumorales pedi\u00e1tricos en ratones a partir de biopsias y\/o fragmentos de los tumores de los pacientes. Unos modelos que permitir\u00e1n probar la efectividad de los tratamientos antes de administrarlos a los pacientes.<\/p>\n

El estudio ha sido realizado por un consorcio internacional que ha contado con la colaboraci\u00f3n del equipo de investigaci\u00f3n de Alberto Villanueva<\/a> en el IDIBELL y el Instituto Catal\u00e1n de Oncolog\u00eda, y el Servicio de Pediatr\u00eda Oncol\u00f3gica de la Vall d\u2019Hebr\u00f3n. En este proyecto se han creado 131 nuevos modelos con muestras de diferentes tipos de c\u00e1ncer infantil como pueden ser sarcomas, neuroblastomas, hepatoblastomas, tumores cerebrales y leucemias, entre otros. Estos modelos reproducen las caracter\u00edsticas histol\u00f3gicas y gen\u00e9ticas de los tumores de los ni\u00f1os, lo que ayudar\u00e1 a encontrar y\/o desarrollar tratamientos m\u00e1s efectivos.<\/p>\n

Seg\u00fan Villanueva, \u201cesta nueva colecci\u00f3n ofrece un avance importante en estos c\u00e1nceres infantiles o con aquellos ni\u00f1os\/as que pueden sufrir una reca\u00edda en la enfermedad ya que permite poder probar la efectividad de nuevos tratamientos que, posteriormente, podr\u00edan utilizarse en los pacientes<\/em>\u201d y a\u00f1ade: \u201cAdem\u00e1s, cabe destacar la importancia de la colaboraci\u00f3n en este tipo de estudio donde ha sido fundamental la implicaci\u00f3n de los pacientes y sus familias<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u00abEs importante resaltar que estos modelos generados, as\u00ed como los otros cincuenta producidos durante la realizaci\u00f3n de la tesis de la Dra. Gabriela Guill\u00e9n, ser\u00e1n herramientas muy importantes para poder validar la estrategia de la medicina de precisi\u00f3n y personalizar los tratamientos de los ni\u00f1os con tumores de mal pron\u00f3stico y resistentes a los tratamientos<\/em>\u201d, concluye Villanueva.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
