La esquizofrenia es un trastorno neuropsiqui\u00e1trico grave que se manifiesta a trav\u00e9s de alucinaciones, delirios y trastornos de comportamiento y motores. Hist\u00f3ricamente, esta enfermedad ha sido asociada a una hiperactivaci\u00f3n de los circuitos neuronales dopamin\u00e9rgicos<\/strong>, lo que, seg\u00fan una hip\u00f3tesis reciente, podr\u00eda estar vinculado a una disminuci\u00f3n de la transmisi\u00f3n adenosin\u00e9rgica<\/strong>, su v\u00eda inhibidora, en nuestro cerebro. As\u00ed pues, se postula que la disminuci\u00f3n del contenido de adenosina, de sus receptores y\/o la alteraci\u00f3n de las interacciones de este receptores, podr\u00edan estar detr\u00e1s de este desequilibrio en la neurotransmisi\u00f3n dopamin\u00e9rgica.<\/p>\n

Un equipo del Instituto de Investigaci\u00f3n Biom\u00e9dica de Bellvitge (IDIBELL<\/a>), la Facultad de Medicina y Ciencias de la Salud y el Instituto de Neurociencias de la Universidad de Barcelona (UBNeuro<\/a>), liderado por el Dr. Francisco Ciruela, ha detectado en modelos animales y muestras postmorten<\/em> de pacientes con esquizofrenia una reducci\u00f3n de la interacci\u00f3n entre los receptores de dopamina y adenosina<\/strong>, lo que explicar\u00eda la sobreestimulaci\u00f3n de la v\u00eda dopamin\u00e9rgica observada en estos pacientes. Adem\u00e1s, los resultados muestran que esta alteraci\u00f3n es independiente de los niveles de expresi\u00f3n de ambos receptores.<\/p>\n

\u00abLos resultados ponen el foco en la falta de interacci\u00f3n entre los receptores neuronales para explicar el desequilibrio observado en la esquizofrenia<\/em>\u00bb apunta el Dr. Ciruela<\/strong>. Y a\u00f1ade \u00abestos descubrimientos proponen que f\u00e1rmacos que promueven la interacci\u00f3n de los dos receptores ser\u00edan una buena estrategia en el manejo de la esquizofrenia<\/em>\u00ab.<\/p>\n

En la siguiente fase del estudio, publicado en la revista Neuropsychopharmacology<\/em><\/a>, los investigadores demuestran que el tratamiento cr\u00f3nico con antipsic\u00f3ticos cl\u00e1sicos, es decir, que bloquean los receptores dopamin\u00e9rgicos, restablecen la interacci\u00f3n entre los dos receptores en modelos de rat\u00f3n. Lo que podr\u00eda explicar el efecto beneficioso de estos f\u00e1rmacos por algunos de los s\u00edntomas de la esquizofrenia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

La interacci\u00f3n de los dos receptores conlleva la inhibici\u00f3n de la v\u00eda dopamin\u00e9rgica, que en el caso de este trastorno se encuentra anormalmente activa.
