\u00abEste descubrimiento supone un cambio de paradigma en el campo, ya que hasta ahora se cre\u00eda que la neuropat\u00eda por Cisplatino estaba causada por el estr\u00e9s oxidativo y la muerte por apoptosis de las neuronas<\/em>\u00bb Jordi Bruna<\/p><\/blockquote>\nEl estudio muestra la sobreexpresi\u00f3n de la prote\u00edna p21<\/strong> inducida por la administraci\u00f3n de Cisplatino. Esta es una prote\u00edna que puede regular tanto procesos de senescencia como de apoptosis celular en respuesta a una lesi\u00f3n. Sin embargo, el estudio demuestra que las v\u00edas implicadas en apoptosis no se activan. Adem\u00e1s, tanto los estudios de microscop\u00eda electr\u00f3nica como los marcadores moleculares de senescencia celular, han confirmado que las neuronas muestran caracter\u00edsticas morfol\u00f3gicas de senescencia despu\u00e9s del tratamiento con Cisplatino.<\/p>\n\u201cLas neuronas son el paradigma de c\u00e9lula altamente diferenciada que no puede replicarse, y los procesos de senescencia, cl\u00e1sicamente descritos en c\u00e9lulas en divisi\u00f3n, son m\u00e1s controvertidos en c\u00e9lulas no replicativas. En este sentido, nuestro trabajo se suma a otros estudios recientes que apuntan que los procesos de senescencia ser\u00edan relevantes en diferentes patolog\u00edas neurol\u00f3gicas<\/em>\u201d explica la doctora Esther Udina, investigadora del Institut de Neuroci\u00e8ncies de la UAB (INc-UAB) y coautora del estudio.<\/p>\nHasta ahora, los ensayos cl\u00ednicos de tratamientos neuroprotectores dirigidos a paliar la neuropat\u00eda causada por platinos han fracasado, el Dr. Bruna concluye que \u00abesto posiblemente sea debido a que los tratamientos estaban enfocados a prevenir la apoptosis neuronal<\/em>\u00ab, y a\u00f1ade, \u00abeste estudio aporta nuevas dianas para paliar la neuropat\u00eda causada por platinos. Estos tratamientos neuroprotectores, administrados juntamente con la quimioterapia, podr\u00edan prevenir la aparici\u00f3n de la neuropat\u00eda, adem\u00e1s, tienen menos probabilidades de interferir con la eficacia antitumoral que los enfocados a la prevenci\u00f3n de la apoptosis<\/em>\u201d.\u201d De esta manera la quimioterapia con Cisplatino no estar\u00eda limitada en funci\u00f3n de la aparici\u00f3n de este efecto adverso tan com\u00fan<\/em>\u00ab.<\/p>\nPara estos estudios se ha utilizado un modelo de rat\u00f3n que mimetiza perfectamente las caracter\u00edsticas cl\u00ednicas de los pacientes. Mediante un m\u00e9todo de separaci\u00f3n celular, se han individualizado cada una de las neuronas del ganglio raqu\u00eddeo dorsal y se han estudiado los genes que se expresaban en cada momento, validando posteriormente su expresi\u00f3n proteica.
