El grupo del IDIBELL<\/a> liderado por el Dr. Juli\u00e1n Cer\u00f3n ha recibido una ayuda \u201cIdeas Semilla<\/strong>\u201d de la Asociaci\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola Contra el C\u00e1ncer (AECC<\/a>). Estas ayudas van dirigidas a proyectos innovadores que puedan acabar generando l\u00edneas de investigaci\u00f3n solidas. En este caso, los recursos ir\u00e1n destinados a la creaci\u00f3n de un nuevo modelo de c\u00e1ncer en los gusanos C. elegans.<\/em><\/p>\n Los estudios gen\u00e9ticos, que actualmente se realizan a los pacientes de c\u00e1ncer, han puesto en evidencia que el c\u00e1ncer es una enfermedad causada por la acumulaci\u00f3n de m\u00faltiples mutaciones que pueden ser distintas en cada paciente. Por esta raz\u00f3n la medicina gen\u00f3mica personalizada<\/strong>, en la que se tiene en cuenta las mutaciones especificas de cada paciente para determinar su tratamiento y seguimiento, est\u00e1 adquiriendo tanta importancia. El proyecto del Dr. Cer\u00f3n propone usar el nematodo C. elegans<\/em> para introducir en su genoma mutaciones de c\u00e1ncer de pacientes, y as\u00ed tener un modelo animal de bajo coste<\/strong>, para obtener informaci\u00f3n funcional de esas mutaciones y explorar posibilidades terap\u00e9uticas probando drogas en estos \u201cgusanos avatar\u201d con las mutaciones de los pacientes.<\/p>\n Hasta la fecha, no se ha conseguido que los gusanos desarrollen estructuras similares a tumores, sin embargo, el grupo del Dr. Cer\u00f3n posee una dilatada experiencia en la t\u00e9cnica de edici\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica CRISPR<\/strong> que usar\u00e1 para intentar producir c\u00e9lulas tumorales en C. elegans<\/em> mediante combinaciones de mutaciones humanas relacionadas con c\u00e1ncer.<\/p>\n Aunque a primera vista un modelo de C. elegans<\/em> pueda parecer que est\u00e1 muy alejado del humano, muchos de los genes mutados en c\u00e1ncer se encuentran conservados de un organismo al otro, del mismo modo, procesos celulares implicados en el desarrollo de c\u00e1ncer, como la apoptosis, tambi\u00e9n se encuentran muy
