La Asociaci\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola Contra el C\u00e1ncer (AECC<\/a>) ha seleccionado el proyecto del Dr. \u00d3scar Mart\u00ednez-Tirado<\/strong>, jefe del grupo de investigaci\u00f3n en sarcoma del Instituto de Investigaci\u00f3n Biom\u00e9dica de Bellvitge (IDIBELL<\/a>), para recibir una de sus nuevas ayudas \u201cAECC Innova<\/strong>\u201d. Estas ayudas pretenden apoyar a los grupos de investigaci\u00f3n en la transferencia de los resultados del laboratorio al mercado. Por el momento la AECC ha dotado con 180.000 euros para dos a\u00f1os a tres de los proyectos de investigaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s ambiciosos y con mayor potencial, entre los que se encuentra el proyecto del Dr. Mart\u00ednez-Tirado.<\/p>\n

Una nueva v\u00eda terap\u00e9utica para el sarcoma de Ewing<\/h3>\n

El sarcoma de Ewing es un tumor \u00f3seo muy agresivo que afecta principalmente a ni\u00f1os y adolescentes. Este tipo de c\u00e1ncer se sigue tratando igual que hace m\u00e1s de 20 a\u00f1os, utilizando tratamientos muy agresivos, que producen graves efectos secundarios, y solo consiguen salvar a 6 de cada 10 pacientes. Ahora, la ayuda AECC Innova permitir\u00e1 al Dr. \u00d2scar Mart\u00ednez-Tirado desarrollar una nueva v\u00eda terap\u00e9utica para este tipo de tumor.<\/p>\n

El equipo del Dr. Mart\u00ednez-Tirado validar\u00e1 para su uso cl\u00ednico unas nanopart\u00edculas<\/strong>, previamente estudiadas en su laboratorio con resultados prometedores, que funcionan como peque\u00f1os drones, capaces de viajar por el cuerpo del paciente hasta llegar a las c\u00e9lulas cancer\u00edgenas y eliminarlas de manera selectiva.<\/p>\n

Esta aproximaci\u00f3n podr\u00eda abrir la puerta a un tratamiento personalizado<\/strong> m\u00e1s eficaz y seguro para pacientes con sarcoma de Ewing.\u00a0Adem\u00e1s, esta tecnolog\u00eda podr\u00eda adaptarse para utilizarse en el tratamiento de otros tipos de tumores.<\/p>\n

\u201cNuestro proyecto est\u00e1 en un momento cr\u00edtico para dar el salto a la tan ansiada pr\u00e1ctica cl\u00ednica. Trat\u00e1ndose de un sarcoma pedi\u00e1trico el tema es de extraordinaria sensibilidad.
