\"\"La<\/span> composici\u00f3n celular de los tumores de <\/span>c\u00e1ncer de colon<\/strong> es heterog\u00e9nea, podemos encontrar desde c\u00e9lulas diferenciadas, semejantes a las del mismo tejido del colon, hasta c\u00e9lulas madre o pluripotentes, responsables del crecimiento del tumor y la met\u00e1stasis. Un estudio publicado en la revista <\/span>Cell Stem Cell<\/em><\/a> liderado por el Dr. Edurad Batlle del Instituto de Investigaci\u00f3n Biom\u00e9dica (<\/span>IRB<\/a>) y en que han participado el equipo del Dr. Alberto Villanueva del <\/span>IDIBELL<\/a> \/ <\/span>ICO<\/a>, demuestra que la capacidad de sintetizar prote\u00ednas, <\/span>capacidad biosint\u00e9tica<\/strong>, es la que convierte las c\u00e9lulas en pluripotentes y la que les permite contribuir en el crecimiento del tumor de manera ilimitada.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Para estudiar la capacidad biosint\u00e9tica de las c\u00e9lulas madre tumorales se han utilizado varios modelos, entre ellos, la implantaci\u00f3n de tumores de c\u00e1ncer colorrectal humanos en ratones<\/strong>, modelo desarrollado por el equipo del Dr. Villanueva. El conjunto de los modelos ha puesto en evidencia que, al bloquear la capacidad biosint\u00e9tica de las c\u00e9lulas, o al eliminar las c\u00e9lulas que tienen esta capacidad, se frena por completo el crecimiento tumoral, lo que convierte esta funci\u00f3n en una diana ideal para futuros tratamientos.<\/p>\n

El estudio describe que la capacidad de producir prote\u00ednas se encuentra restringida a las regiones del tumor donde se encuentran las c\u00e9lulas pluripotentes, y que adem\u00e1s, los tumores presentan un gradiente de producci\u00f3n de prote\u00ednas, y aquellas c\u00e9lulas que han perdido esta capacidad por completo no pueden volver al estado de c\u00e9lulas madre.<\/p>\n
