\u201cTras mucho a\u00f1os pensando que la resistencia de las bacterias a los antibacterianos es un problema en el tratamiento de infecciones, este descubrimiento plantea importantes interrogantes\u201d ha explicado Villa. La resistencia a los antibacterianos es un fen\u00f3meno intr\u00ednsecamente relacionado con su introducci\u00f3n en la pr\u00e1ctica cl\u00ednica y con el uso particular de cada compuesto. Las fluoroquinolonas son un tipo de antibacterianos de amplio espectro de origen sint\u00e9tico y representan el tratamiento de elecci\u00f3n de un gran n\u00famero de infecciones tanto de origen humano como animal. La resistencia a estos agentes antibacterianos es cada vez m\u00e1s importante entre las cepas de origen cl\u00ednico. El pr\u00f3ximo paso en la investigaci\u00f3n ser\u00e1 demostrar esta relaci\u00f3n en modelos animales. Seg\u00fan Vila, \u201caun cuando algunos expertos plantean la extensi\u00f3n de estas cepas multiresistentes pero poco virulentas para luchar contra las infecciones, es muy complicado porque tambi\u00e9n es cierto que las cepas resistentes a las fluoroquinolonas tienen peor fitness que las que son sensibles\u201d. Una aplicaci\u00f3n que quiz\u00e1s se podr\u00eda llegar a conseguir es \u201cla sustituci\u00f3n de cepas sensibles y virulentas de Salmonella<\/em> y E.coli<\/em> por las resistentes y poco virulentas en animales para el consumo humano de forma que aunque se transmitan no podr\u00edan colonizar el epitelio humano\u201d.
Sobre Jordi Vila<\/strong>
<\/strong> El doctor Jordi Vila es jefe del servicio de microbiolog\u00eda del Hospital Cl\u00ednic, investigador del IDIBAPS y Catedr\u00e1tico del departamento de Anatom\u00eda patol\u00f3gica, Farmacolog\u00eda y Microbiolog\u00eda en la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Barcelona. Su equipo se ha centrado en el estudio de las bases moleculares de las resistencias de las bacterias a los antibi\u00f3ticos y en el desarrollo de f\u00e1rmacos para luchar contra esta resistencia.
Desde el 2009 es Director del Congreso Europeo de microbiolog\u00eda cl\u00ednica y enfermedades infecciosas (ECCMID) y desde el a\u00f1o 2006 es miembro del Comit\u00e9 del Programa Cient\u00edfico del ICAAC. Ha publicado m\u00e1s de 200 art\u00edculos y el a\u00f1o 2010 recibi\u00f3 el premio IDIBAPS a su trayectoria cient\u00edfica.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
