La regeneraci\u00f3n cardiaca podr\u00eda conducirnos a obtener corazones bio-artificiales a partir de corazones descelularizados y recompuestos de nuevo con c\u00e9lulas
madre adultas. \u00c9ste es el objetivo del investigador y jefe de cardiolog\u00eda del Hospital Gregorio Mara\u00f1\u00f3n de Madrid, Francisco Fern\u00e1ndez Avil\u00e9s, que ha explicado sus \u00faltimos avances en una nueva sesi\u00f3n de los seminarios del IDIBELL el pasado 13 de mayo.<\/strong>
Actualmente, su laboratorio cuenta con 18 matrices de coraz\u00f3n humano a los que se ha despojado de todas sus c\u00e9lulas. \u201cEl desaf\u00edo consiste en repoblar estas matrices con c\u00e9lulas con capacidad de diferenciarse en un entorno lo m\u00e1s parecido posible a las condiciones de desarrollo embrionario, que se consiguen en un bioreactor\u201d ha explicado Fern\u00e1ndez Avil\u00e9s.
El investigador ha defendido la terapia celular de regeneraci\u00f3n cardiaca en enfermos agudos en los que los resultados de diversos estudios realizados de forma heterog\u00e9nea (con diversas t\u00e9cnicas y con diferentes tipos de
tipos de c\u00e9lulas: de m\u00e9dula \u00f3sea, de tejido adiposo\u2026) demuestran que se obtienen mayores beneficios que con las terapias actuales. En este sentido, Fern\u00e1ndez Avil\u00e9s ha anunciado la participaci\u00f3n de su grupo en un ensayo cl\u00ednico paneuropeo en el que participar\u00e1n m\u00e1s de 3.000 pacientes.
Sin embargo, en pacientes cr\u00f3nicos, \u201cla capacidad de regeneraci\u00f3n de las c\u00e9lulas parece no ser suficiente para recuperar el funcionamiento de las zonas afectadas y es necesario el trasplante, que s\u00f3lo puede llegar a realizarse en un 5% de los pacientes que lo necesitan, incluso en Espa\u00f1a, que tiene un sistema de donaciones ejemplar\u201d.
La obtenci\u00f3n de \u00f3rganos bioartificiales, ha afirmado Fern\u00e1ndez Avil\u00e9s, \u201cser\u00eda una enorme revoluci\u00f3n ya que las enfermedades cardiovasculares son la primera causa de muerte en hombres en el mundo. Si podemos conseguir un nuevo \u00f3rgano a partir de un coraz\u00f3n inerte de cerdo y c\u00e9lulas del propio paciente, acabar\u00edamos con la escasez de donantes y con los problemas de rechazo\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
