El s\u00e1bado 18 de febrero tendr\u00e1 lugar la segunda jornada de S\u00edndrome de Rett, organizada por la Fundaci\u00f3n Teknon y la Asociaci\u00f3n Catalana de S\u00edndrome de Rett. Durante el seminario intervendr\u00e1 el investigador del IDIBELL Manel Esteller. El S\u00edndrome de Rett es un trastorno neurol\u00f3gico que se presenta, principalmente, en ni\u00f1as. Est\u00e1 causado por la alteraci\u00f3n de genes reguladores mediante el proceso de metilaci\u00f3n del ADN. Fue descubierto por primera vez en 1966 por el m\u00e9dico austriaco Andreas Rett, que da nombre al s\u00edndrome.<\/p>\n

El S\u00edndrome de Rett est\u00e1 catalogada dentro de las llamadas enfermedades raras, siendo una de las m\u00e1s crueles actualmente, ya que las ni\u00f1as tienen una dependencia total y de por vida<\/p>\n

El diagn\u00f3stico se basa en el cumplimiento de los criterios de diagn\u00f3stico cl\u00ednico. Este se fundamenta en la informaci\u00f3n durante las primeras etapas de crecimiento de la ni\u00f1a y del desarrollo y evaluaci\u00f3n continua de la historia m\u00e9dica y de su estado f\u00edsico y neurol\u00f3gico. El diagn\u00f3stico cl\u00ednico se puede confirmar con el estudio gen\u00e9tico de mutaciones en el gen MECP2.<\/p>\n

Muchas de las ni\u00f1as con S\u00edndrome de Rett llegan a caminar a la edad en que deber\u00edan hacerlo, otros presentan, desde el principio, una incapacidad para caminar. Sin embargo, tienen un periodo de regresi\u00f3n o estancamiento en que pierden el uso de las capacidades manuales y las sustituyen por movimientos constantes y repetitivos (estereotipias). Tambi\u00e9n pueden sufrir escoliosis, ataques epil\u00e9pticos, problemas respiratorios y digestivos, entre otros. Dado que su desarrollo intelectual se retrasa gravemente, muchas ni\u00f1as son diagnosticadas err\u00f3neamente como autistas o de par\u00e1lisis cerebral.<\/p>\n

La Fundaci\u00f3n Teknon<\/a>, de la mano de la Asociaci\u00f3n Catalana de S\u00edndrome de Rett<\/a>, organiza las II Jornadas sobre S\u00edndrome de Rett, con el objetivo de poner al alcance de todo el colectivo profesional implicado (pediatras, m\u00e9dicos de atenci\u00f3n primaria, psic\u00f3logos infantiles, neuropediatras, logopedas, profesionales de educaci\u00f3n especial, asistentes sociales, etc.), la informaci\u00f3n necesaria para un diagn\u00f3stico precoz y un mejor tratamiento y cuidado de las ni\u00f1as con S\u00edndrome de Rett.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
