El IDIBELL ha recibido uno de los premios a las Mejores Ideas del a\u00f1o, otorgados por la publicaci\u00f3n especializada en medicina y sanidad Diario M\u00e9dico, por un estudio que comprueba c\u00f3mo las marcas epigen\u00e9ticas se van degradando a lo largo del tiempo. La investigaci\u00f3n, que compara el epigenoma de personas centenarias y de beb\u00e9s, fue publicada en junio de 2012 en la revista Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS). El trabajo ha sido coordinado por el director del Programa de Epigen\u00e9tica y Biolog\u00eda del C\u00e1ncer del IDIBELL, Manel Esteller.<\/p>\n

Mientras que el genoma de todas las c\u00e9lulas del cuerpo humano, con independencia de su aspecto y funci\u00f3n, es id\u00e9ntico, las se\u00f1ales qu\u00edmicas que lo regulan, conocidas como marcas epigen\u00e9ticas, son espec\u00edficas de cada tejido humano y de cada \u00f3rgano. El resultado sorprendente del trabajo del grupo del Dr. Esteller es que, incluso para un mismo tejido u \u00f3rgano, el epigenoma var\u00eda en funci\u00f3n de la edad de la persona. El estudio ha comprobado que el epigenoma de una persona centenaria est\u00e1 alterado.<\/p>\n

El premio se entreg\u00f3 en una gala el d\u00eda 19 de noviembre en el Teatro Nacional de Catalu\u00f1a. Lo recogi\u00f3 el primer firmante del art\u00edculo, el investigador del grupo de Epigen\u00e9tica del C\u00e1ncer del IDIBELL Holger A Heyn.<\/p>\n

Adem\u00e1s de este galard\u00f3n por el trabajo de investigaci\u00f3n del IDIBELL, el Hospital Universitario de Bellvitge recibi\u00f3 un premio en el programa Hospital Eficiente, que consiste en la gesti\u00f3n centralizada de las listas de espera y del bloque quir\u00fargico.
