El investigador predoctoral del grupo de Genes y C\u00e1ncer del IDIBELL, Manuel Torres, ha sido galardonado con el premio de Investigaci\u00f3n Cooperativa de la Red Tem\u00e1tica de Investigaci\u00f3n Cooperativa en C\u00e1ncer (RTICC) 2014 para un trabajo publicado por su grupo, dirigido por Montse Sanchez-Cespedes, en la revista Cancer Discovery.
El trabajo describe la inactivaci\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica del gen MAX en c\u00e1ncer de pulm\u00f3n de c\u00e9lula peque\u00f1a y c\u00f3mo su restituci\u00f3n reduce muy significativamente el crecimiento celular. El hallazgo pone de manifiesto que MAX act\u00faa como gen supresor de tumores en uno de los tipos de c\u00e1ncer pulmonar m\u00e1s agresivos y con peor pron\u00f3stico. [Romero et al. La entrega del galard\u00f3n tuvo lugar en el marco de la reuni\u00f3n anual de la RTICC 2014, celebrada en 24 de septiembre en la Hospeder\u00eda Fonseca de salamanca.
La primera red tem\u00e1tica de investigaci\u00f3n cooperativa en c\u00e1ncer surge en 2003 con la primera convocatoria de RETICs del Instituto de Salud Carlos III dentro del ‘Plan Nacional de Investigaci\u00f3n Cient\u00edfica, Desarrollo e Innovaci\u00f3n’ con el objetivo de impulsar la investigaci\u00f3n oncol\u00f3gica de excelencia en base al desarrollo, potenciaci\u00f3n y consolidaci\u00f3n de estructuras estables de investigaci\u00f3n cooperativa en el \u00e1mbito del Sistema Nacional de Salud.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
