El jefe del laboratorio de Infecciones y C\u00e1ncer del ICO-IDIBELL, Ignacio Gonz\u00e1lez Bravo ha recibido una Consolidator Grant del European Research Council (ERC) para desarrollar su proyecto CODOVIREVOL: \u00abEvolution of viral codon usage preferences: manipulation of translation accuracy and evasion of inmune response\u00bb. La beca supone una financiaci\u00f3n de 2 millones de euros para los pr\u00f3ximos cinco a\u00f1os.
El proyecto de Gonz\u00e1lez Bravo se centra en estudiar los mecanismos que utilizan los virus que provocan infecciones cr\u00f3nicas para lograr mantenerse dentro del hu\u00e9sped sin provocar su respuesta inmune. El investigador ha explicado la importancia de conocer estos mecanismos ya que \u00abentre el 15 y el 20% de los c\u00e1nceres en humanos se producen por infecciones. Aproximadamente un tercio a partir de Papiloma virus, otro tercio a partir de infecciones de los virus de las Hepatitis B y C, y el resto por infecciones de Helicobacter pylori<\/em>\u00ab.
\u00abQueremos saber c\u00f3mo los virus que provocan infecciones cr\u00f3nicas utilizan un dialecto particular del c\u00f3digo gen\u00e9tico, que ser\u00eda la lengua com\u00fan de todos los organismos, con el fin de pasar desapercibidos por el sistema inmunitario del hu\u00e9sped y continuar dividi\u00e9ndose en el interior de las c\u00e9lulas infectadas hasta que las lesiones llegan a provocar un c\u00e1ncer \u00abexplic\u00f3 Gonz\u00e1lez Bravo.
Catorce investigadores del sistema catal\u00e1n de investigaci\u00f3n han sido reconocidos en la segunda convocatoria de los Consolidator Grants que otorga el el ERCP los cient\u00edficos que se encuentran en la mitad de su carrera. Estas ayudas -altamente competitivos- financiar\u00e1n los proyectos de estos investigadores durante los pr\u00f3ximos 5 a\u00f1os para que puedan consolidar sus equipos y desarrollar sus ideas m\u00e1s innovadoras en todo el Espacio Europeo de Investigaci\u00f3n.
Las Consolidator Grants buscan impulsar la carrera de personas con talento y una visi\u00f3n innovadora que hayan demostrado su potencial investigador y su madurez cient\u00edfica. En esta segunda convocatoria, los proyectos de los investigadores han abarcado \u00e1mbitos del conocimiento muy diversos: computaci\u00f3n, econom\u00eda, f\u00edsica, nanotecnolog\u00eda, bioingenier\u00eda y biolog\u00eda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
