Curs\u00f3 y obtuvo la especialidad de Bioqu\u00edmica (1982) en el programa MIR de formaci\u00f3n de m\u00e9dicos residentes, en el Hospital Vall d&#8217;Hebron de Barcelona. Antes de dirigir el IDIBELL, el doctor Revent\u00f3s ejerc\u00eda como jefe de la Unidad de Investigaci\u00f3n Biom\u00e9dica y Oncolog\u00eda Traslacional del Vall d&#8217;Hebron Institut de Recerca (VHIR). <b><br \/> La Comisi\u00f3n delegada del IDIBELL ha acordado proponer al Patronato el <strong>nombramiento provisional del doctor Gabriel Capell\u00e1 como director en funciones del IDIBELL durante el proceso de selecci\u00f3n del nuevo director del Instituto<\/strong>. La reuni\u00f3n del Patronato, donde se aprobar\u00e1 definitivamente el nombramiento, est\u00e1 prevista en los pr\u00f3ximos d\u00edas. <br \/> Capell\u00e1 es doctor en Medicina y Cirug\u00eda por la Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Barcelona. Trabaj\u00f3 como investigador postdoctoral en el California Institute of Biological Research de La Jolla (California, EEUU) y en el Hospital de Sant Pau. Tambi\u00e9n ha sido profesor visitante en la Universidad de Michigan. En el \u00e1mbito asistencial, ha ejercido como cirujano en el Hospital de Sant Jaume de Calella. Su investigaci\u00f3n se orienta al diagn\u00f3stico molecular del c\u00e1ncer, tanto hereditario como espor\u00e1dico, especialmente en c\u00e1ncer colorrectal. <br \/> <b><br \/>A nivel de gesti\u00f3n, Capell\u00e1 encabez\u00f3 la Direcci\u00f3n Cient\u00edfica del IDIBELL en el periodo 2008-2012 y desde 2013 ha sido responsable de Investigaci\u00f3n e Innovaci\u00f3n en Salud del Departamento de Salud de la Generalitat de Catalu\u00f1a, tarea que ha compaginado con la de jefe del Programa de C\u00e1ncer Hereditario del ICO y jefe de grupo de C\u00e1ncer Hereditario del
